Annie went in yesterday to get spayed and she was much further long than they originally thought. So it is now Annie Plus 1. Annie did great through the surgery and I was able to pick her up today and by the looks of her and the way she is acting, you'd never know she had surgery. Annie had 3 little puppies, one was not developed and didn't make it. Puppy #2 had to be put down because it's front legs were severely deformed. So far Puppy #3 is doing great -- me on the other hand is a different story. Last night I was up very 1 1/2 hours to bottle feed the little one. This little girl so far is a real fighter and definitely a mover. She doesn't keep still except when she is sleeping. This little girl is one tough cookie! Earlier today, I tried to slowly introduced Annie to her puppy and must say I am very nervous that she is going to hurt it. She is interested in her but then starts to be a little rough. My vet said that I could try to let the puppy nurse tomorrow so hopefully all goes well. If not, I will be bottle nursing her until she is healthy and strong enough for stage 2 feeding. The the manager at my vet's office, who has a lot of experience with Premie's seems to think she has a real good chance of making it as long as I keep her warm, fed and can stimulate her to go to the bathroom. So far we are doing all 3 with no problems. Thank you for all of your support and prayers along the way. Please say some prayers for Princess and Einstein as they just got picked up and are being transported to Woodstock, IL. Hopefully their new Mom will join this forum. Michelle |

aawww, look how little she is! It's so hard to figure out what they will look like when they are so young and still look like a little walrus! Do you have a name picked out yet? |
Awwww how precious! |
Oh so cute. I hope all goes well for Annie's little princess. Plz keep us updated. |
My goodness what you've done, sacrificed, been through and given of yourself over the last few weeks. You are to be admired. Thank you for your efforts, they're truly remarkable. My thoughts are with you and Annie and the tiny pup. |
She was meant to be I'm very sorry about the other two babies. At some point, even if mama can't be trusted to raise her, you might try to get this pup with a puppy her size/age to at least learn bite inhibition. Singletons miss out on this... I have one (Meesha, her mom was hit by a car). |
I think Annie is loving being a mom. I have made her a nice area in my guest bathroom and Annie is nursing her puppy. So far all is going great. I was afraid that Annie would want to follow me when I left the bathroom to go get her a bowl of water but she stayed right with her puppy. I hope it stays this way. Right now, Annie is sleeping "curled up" around the baby either sleeping, nursing or maybe both. Everyone looks every content -- even me. I think tonight I might sleep in my guest bedroom so I will hear and be right there if something doesn't sound right. Does anyone have a good suggestion for a name for the little one? I have thought of Cookie as she is definitely one "Tough Cookie!" I will take some more photos of her with her little one and keep everyone updated on Annie Plus 1. Michelle |

DEFINITELY take lots of pictures! |
Oooh... that's good news! I'm not a breeder so I don't know anything about it but do you need to be careful she doesn't accidentally lie on the pup and smother or hurt her? Ask the breeders here... again, I don't really know. |
I love the name Cookie! She's just precious |
Cookie would be a perfect name for that precious girl |
awwww she is adorable! I like the name cookie! |
So sweet! I like the name Cookie! |
I like Cookie too! And Dawn has Chewie (that's what chewie treats are called at my place, the dogs come running if I call 'do you want a chewie') and Dawn's DH, Todd has his boy Biscuit. And two new dogs at my obedience school are called Biscuit, so why not go with the tasty theme? |

I'm glad Annie has settled enough to take care of her sole remaining baby. |
