Hmmmm, here's a bit of info: Quote: Avoid using proin in animals with a history of allergy to the ingredients of this drug. Animals suffering from conditions of glaucoma, enlarged prostate, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, heart problems or high blood pressure should be kept away from proin. Abstain from using Proin in pregnant and breeding animals as it can cause harmful effects in them. Side Effects The most common side effects noted while administering proin are restlessness, irritability, increased heart rate, increased blood pressure and loss of appetite. Restlessness, weakness, pale gums, seizures, or difficulty in urinating are also reported as occasional side effects while being treated with phenylpropanolamine There's also a possibility of growing problems with her vaccinations. Some dogs develop and intolerance for all that silliness.......and I do mean silliness when you consider they usually have sufficient protection from year to year and don't need new vaxs.......unless they are frolicky at city dog parks or in kennels where "germs" fly free. I would not give her another Proin until you've consulted with the vet....via phone should be enough. She might be allergic to it. Did you also apply a flea/tick product and something for heartworms. I find if I use Heartgaard and Frontline on the same day, one of my kids doesn't feel well for 24 hours. Too much chemical all at once. |
Thank you for the information. I did not give her a treatment for fleas or heart worms yesterday so we can at least rule that out. Of course the vet is not open on Sunday and I have not had much luck with our emergency animal hospital in Joplin. She is pretty lethargic which is the opposite of side effects of proin. |
