Im new here I own a total of 5 sheepies...Armani-8,Adorian-6,Antesian-2,Ashely-Brooke-2,Clyde-14mos. I am wondering about something with my my babies. Anteisan is deaf and every since i brought him home Armani has been very protective over him. Such as when Adorian and Antesian will start to play...Armani will come and stand guard between the two i guess to make sure that no fighting is involved. When he sees all is well then he will back off but still keep close watch over him. Armani is kind of a non-social sheepie...the others play with each other but he just wants to play when he feels like it and if one of the others comes to him he growls and walks away.. Armani is not like that with any of the others only Antesian. He will let him do anything he wants to him but none of the others. Does anyone know why this could be? I forgot to add, Antesian will hide behind Armani or go under his legs and start to bark at the others. Not an aggressive bark just a playful one. I call Anteisan my one man band lol. Although he is deaf, he is the most loving to everyone and everything them any of them. He is the only dog ive ever seen wag his tail in his sleep |

Actually I think that is very sweet he is protective, lord and master of the pack. Armani is obviously the leader of the group and sensing that Anteisan has a disability so keeping a carefull eye over Anteisan. As long as there is no aggression towards any of the other dogs I would not worry just think Armani has sensed Anteisan needs special looking after to just make sure no one gets too rough with him. Sort of like a Giant mother hen or big daddy taking the younger one under his wing and being a little more attentive and protective of anteisan . Armani sounds like he rules the tribe and they acknowledge and respect him and he keeps them all in order. Nice to see he has bonded with Anteisan so well. Welcome to the forum too, now you have to post piccys of the pack Love the names too. |
I see, that makes perfectly good sense Yes, it seems you know Armani very well..that is exactly what goes on in my household. Thank you |
I have had now 3 deaf OES and they typically have a "foster" dog that takes care of them... My first Kissy was adopted by our other male Wilby and they did everything together... Kismet totally relied on Wilby! My second deaf OES is Fiiners... We adopted him when I had my other male Quin..(not deaf) Finn is so totally like Quin was.... You would have thought Quin gave birth to Finn he "mothered" him so much... Sadly, Quin passed at a young age so, that bond was lost My third deaf OES is Georgie Peaches who should be the poster child for deaf dogs! She is oblivious and LOVES everything and everybody! Even our "difficult" fosters love her... She licks them in the face and they are like "Ok, whatever" Sorry, I went off on my little speel.. Lisa said it all perfectly and deaf dogs are my passion! Thank you for adopting a deaf dog!! I am in Wilmington, NC...not too far from you! Would love to see pics of your babies!!!! |
Just couldn't resist... these are my two deaf babies! |
( Donners Mom) Oh How precious!!!! I love them It sounds like your babie is just like Antesian with his overbearing love Yes i drove all the way to MN 18hrs one way to pick him up. You are close to me, that is great!! I will post pictures as soon as i figure out how to on the site lol. |
Ok i put some pictures of them in the Photo Album. They arent the best haha. Will get better shots |
Chewie has adopted his foster brother - a 12 year old basset hound |

What a cute face! |
Thank you guys His sister had one brown and one blue as well |
got sheep, do you dress your basset hound in costume? I have this hotdog costume...brand new with tags on it and of course none of my pack can fit into it. I would like to give it away to someone with a smaller type dog |

I would like to give it away to someone with a smaller type dog Sadly, yes I do Simon is a therapy dog, so he gets all sorts of "decorations" for some of our visits. Do you have dimensions for the costume? Simon weighs just about 40 pounds. I can measure him, but he's crashed for the night right now. |
Its 13-20pds and 14-16 inches. Thats neat that he is a Therapy Dog Awww i hope it can fit him. |

He's definitely over the weight part - and he's a slim basset. I was sick - so just getting caught up - I can measure him tonight after work. |
