Has anyone seen the news tonight about the kids in Florida that got sick at the petting zoo? One little girl needed a kidney transplant. It said on the news it came from a strain of E- coli. Very scary. Of course everyone should wash their hands berfore they eat or put anything in their mouth but how many little kids actually do that. I don't understand why this seems to be happening so much now with petting zoo's. I've always used horse manure to make my garden grow and I probably still will. Many people live on farms with lots of animals and have never gotten it either. Does anyone have any insight on the subject? I'm a nurse and I understand about resistant strains of bacteria from misuse of antibiotics but this just floored me when I saw pics on the T.V of how ill those children are. Some are still in critical condition. Very sad. |

I did'nt see it on the news but yikes!!! That is so scary and the worst part, it's preventable. My son had e coli a few years back,it was the most afraid I have ever been in my entire life...I did'nt think it was humanly possible to be THAT sick! I feel for the families and hope to god those poor children are ok. |
