I did kick it into gear late last week, sucked it up, and got some things accomplished too. I am SURE the reason the party was successful, is the fact I washed every window in the house Friday. The weather was iffy--- rain off and on all morning. By the time people started arriving at 1:00, it was humid, but no more rain. My sister ordered all the food from a local caterer--- pulled pork / chicken, several pasta salads, potatoe salad, slaws etc, and the buns were fresh made from an amish baker. Cake was delish-- red velvet with cream cheese icing. All I had to do was throw together a cheese- relish tray, and do deviled eggs and BBQ beans. Easy peasy! The meat was out of this world! 16 hours of smokin' makes for a great pulled pork sandwich! Topped with pineapple coleslaw-- oh yum! The little graduate was very polite and appreciative, so that made us proud . That could have went either way, as she can be a bit moody... There were 85 people here over the course of the day--- and we had a great time. Little Skyler and Alayna were so helpful... right there at my every move. Sad that Kyleigh has grown up so fast! Where does the time go??? Anyhoo-- next Saturday we get to do it all again... We are dedicating a tree in John's Dad's memory, with lunch following. Should be around 50 here for lunch. Too bad this will not be catered. I am fixing all of my FIL's favorites-- Ham loaf, scalloped cauliflower, green beans with bacon and potatoes-- raisin cream pie, fresh strawberry pie and cresent rolls. Hit the bell-- round two, here we come! |

Not much you can prepare ahead, bummer. Hope your back holds out! Take it easy. You may have to raise a flag of surrender and go with just a few of his favorites and bring in a bucket or 5 of chicken. |

The pictures are great and thank goodness the weather mostly cooperated. |
