NO, don't let her do that! Not so much that she will hurt her teeth (which she could), but more do not let her do things that are cute or tolerable as a pup, that will be a huge difference in several months. Then she will be bigger and stronger. How unfair to her to crack down on her then, when it was "cute" as a smaller puppy. It is in her and your best interest to institute the house rules as much as possible now with her as a puppy, as you would want when she is an adult. Unless you don't care that your 60 pound puppy is literally eating your house.... Think of it as something we all notice with human kids - what may seem cute as a baby or toddler becomes unacceptable when they are older. It would be better to redirect her need for chewing to something appropriate and reward that behavior. |
DITTO! Every time she chews something, replace it with a bone, toy or rope - something she's allowed to and supposed to chew! |
Ditto all of the above reasons. But in addition, yes she will probably fracture a tooth chewing on something unsuitable like metal. They can fracture teeth chewing on suitable things too (if they are a very aggresive chewer) but the odds are more in their favor if they are chewing on things that are made for dogs to chew on. What is cute at 15# alot of times is not so cute at 80#. |
