Has anyone else had experience with this? If it's something I"m not thinking of, I would like to avoid another trip to the vet. Any ideas? |

Has he lost all his baby teeth??
Maybe it's something he was chewing on, like a piece of a toy. Could also be some food. |
Is it just pigment of the skin? Many, if not most OES have "freckles" of black in their mouths.... sometimes large patches of black and sometimes just freckles...... is it red or inflamed around the area? |
It's not pigment... he usually doesn't let me touch it but its sort of soft (yuck!). No inflammation. I've tried getting at it with a toothbrush but it's not having an effect. |
Oh and he lost his baby teeth a few months ago. |
If it is soft it's not likely a tooth, but perhaps an abcess around a tooth. That is extremely uncommon for a puppy to have though, so I'm thinking maybe something stuck in there? How long has it been there?
If there is no inflammation it doesn't sound like infection, but if he won;t let you touch it, it might be, so I think your best bet is to take him in to the vet and have them take a look. Could you get a picture? |
