Nice article, thanks for sharing. Ron wrote: Now why didn't *I* start that website....? Our company exhibited at Global Pet Expo this year in Orlando. Hunte Corporation had an enormous enclosed booth there. There were signs posted all over the booth something to this effect: You cannot enter this booth unless you are a pet store merchant that sells puppies! They had HumaneWatch.org in big letters under it. Thought it was interesting how they were trying to protect themselves, and potential buyers from being harassed. (Saw someone shouting at Lambriar that they were a puppy mill, at the same show, the previous year.) |
Reminds me, the interesting thing about Hunte, hated as it is in many circles, is that they have the one of the best annual health/repro symposia you can imagine, bringing in names most of us would know well, geneticists, repro vets, the premiere name in puppy/litter structural evaluations, catch my drift? For free. As a service to their breeders. A number of show breeders in the general area have attended over the years and been pleasantly surprised, if a little embarrassed. AKC's CHF also does breeder's seminars now. In fact, there's one coming up in Ames, Iowa in early June. Looks like an excellent lineup: http://support.caninehealthfoundation.o ... &id=100101 $150 registration fee for both days. Kind of a digression, but education is education. And the HSUS is the HSUS and doesn't care who they crush. Or deceive. We just happen to be an easier (soft) target. Hunte will probably still be standing long after hobby breeding is a distant memory at this rate. A touch of healthy paranoia may not be a bad thing for us either. Kristine |
