Yuki did this as a puppy ...just baby socks though and they always came out fine. She'd go ahead and fetch them right out of the laundry basket, but she grew out of this habit as she left puppyhood. Hope this is a short term hobby. |
Asterisk began sock eating at around a year old. It started with Josh teaching her to take off his socks when he got home at night. Then she just started to chew them. Now she will chew half of the sock and eat it. Sometimes she pukes it up but mostly she poops it out. Josh now does not own any black socks. |
Socks can be a MAJOR problem and can cause a blockage. Amazing how having a dog gets you to pick up after yourself! I would be extremely careful of where I leave my socks ( and maybe undies too ). I know it's funny but believe me, it can be a big problem... We had a samoyed when I was a kid. My Italian grandfather was living with us. He could hardly speak English. He came in from the backyard one day, and in his thick Italian accent told us..." The doga, I mean I don't really carea, but the doga, he jumped upa on the line and ate my socks!"....And yes, we watched as the dog pooped out a sock! We were lucky he pooped it out and didn't get stuck! Beware! |
Oh My. Thank goodness I've never had a sock eater. Baloo will get a pair of socks out of the sock basket we have (I stopped trying to separate the kids socks years ago. Now they get paired and plopped in the basket. they need socks... go to the basket) and will bring them to me, drop it right in my lap or he will try and get Lily to grab the other end and make it a pull toy. He's never ate ate one though. (knock on wood) |
Mitch ate a sock once (without me knowing) and when i saw him poop it out i nearly had a heart attack .It was a bright red sock and from a distance i thought his whole insides were getting pooped out it took me at least 3 minutes to realise it was a sock. |
