My New Rescue Sheep Dog.

Hi there I'm jade and I introduced my self a while back on the lifestyle page. I was getting an Old English Sheepdog puppy at the end of july. Sunday we found an advert looking for a home for a 2 year old OES from an ex rescue centre / farm. We drove for about an hour an half to get there and was exhausted. The OES named Tilly was a little dirty but the lady said she had been in the garden digging. She said one of her rescue dogs had had a couple of bites out of her but was healing okay now. This morning we bathed her and found sore spots filthy ears with sores and a few bald spots. Now she had been this ladys pet and seemed upset to have to sell her <no longer lives on farm> . She is well fed and seems to have a lovely temprament and gets on fine with my other dogs. She has also been shaved and shaved badly her face looks a bit hacked off to be honest. I have an apointment at the vets for tomorow as she is scratching herself no sign of fleas though. I guess I am feeling a little down hearted about not having a puppy but happy that I am able to help this dog out who obviously needed a new home. I just hope her fur grows back in fast and I can trim her properly and she can be the beautiful dog on the outside as well as inside.

Will do a picture soon as can figure out how hehe.

:clappurple: Welcome back! Terrific for rescueing Tilly, she is beautiful! Getting to the vet sounds like a good idea. Don't worry about the hair, it grows back...very quickly.
Tilly is beautiful. I hope all goes well at the Vet.
Congratulations! Puppies are adorable, of course, but you have to say good bye to things like sleep, and expect things like urine stained carpets, chewed shoes and furniture. A 2 year old will (hopefully) be past those things, and ready to be a good companion. And fur grows back; what a wonderful treat it will be to see your Tilly in a nice shaggy coat!
Your two year old will be just fine. She needs a stable long lasting home.........yours. Yes, the hair comes back quickly.......by mid summer you'll be well into brushing. Right now get her used to brushing by using a soft brush so she learns to associated the massage with you and relaxation.

The itching might be skin problems or allergies. Filthy ears may be infected adding to the itchies. Vet should be able to get her set right and your job is to provide good food, grooming, leadership, training and the love happens automatically.

Congratulations on your new pup! :clappurple:
welcome i am sure tilly is happy you found her
HI! Tilly is beautiful! I love her shade of gray. I hope the vet has good news. I'm sure it won't be long and she'll be furry, happy, healthy and loved in her new home.
Congratulations!!! What EXCITING news!

Don't lament too much about not getting a puppy... think of all advantages you have by getting a 2 year old; potty-trained, chewing phase is over; can hold her bladder for more than a couple hours; will sleep through the night.

And to be honest, my Asterisk will be two next week... two years old and they are still VERY puppy in energy!
:clappurple: :clappurple: Bless you for taking in a dog that needed a home. :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple:

Tilly looks great compared to many rescued OES that come in. It takes no time at all for them to mat and develop skin problems.

Are you still getting the puppy???
Thank you all for such encouraging and great replys. We are at the vet today at 2.10 so will let you know how we do as for getting a puppy no we already love and adore Tilly and i dont want a puppy hehe.

Good luck at the vets!!

Tilly looks lovely. My 2 year old, still puppyish, Tiggy says "hello" and sends a big sheepie kiss to Tilly.
Welcome to the forum and i think Tilly looks beautiful :)

Hope all goes ok at the vets .
I've got my fingers crossed...
Hey all I'm thrilled all clear at the vets small inflamation in the ears drops for 5 days then a good clean after and all should be well. As for the bites they should heal up on there own fingers crossed. Only small problem is she keeps stepping on mah little 7 month old cavaliers hehe hopefuly they learn to get out the way quicker eh.

Thanks again for the awesome welcome :)

Thats good new jade :clappurple:

Hope the cavaliers don't end up too squished :)
What a beautiful girl Tilly is! Hope all goes well at the vet's office.

Love to hear rescue stories!
What good news. :D :D :D :D :D

Now to get to the business of integrating Tilly to your family and learning the ropes at your house. I'm sure she will do fine. Many of us have littler dogs too (ours are minpins) and they do fine together. The little ones do move!
Two years old is still a PUPPY!!!

She looks absolutely beautiful! :hearts: :hearts:

She has entered your life for a reason (but you already knew that) :D

Can't wait to meet you and Tilly when we have UK Sheepie Day! :yay:
Tilly is just beautiful! I love her tail!
Tilly is adorable--Welcome!
Hi Jade and welcome from Northampton UK about an hour from you I think! Your Tilly looks lovely and I am sure she will repay you a million times over for welcoming her into your family. She will stop treading on the little dogs. My Summer (oes) is very careful not to step on my Tilly (yorkie) or she gets told off! Look forward to speaking to you again. xx
