So what are all of your plans this year??? |
|
Good topic I am using most of my vacation time for dog events (no big change from normal). Every August we go out near Milwaukee for our Basset Rescue's big fundraiser weekend and Todd and I camp. We make it a longer trip than just the weekend, and we have a good time. We tent, and it has never failed to rain yet, in the 4 years we have been going.... This September I'm going to the OES Nationals in NY - and that will be about 7-10 days including driving and a bit of tourist time. Other than that, we will most likely do some in state camping trips and visiting family. |
I agree ...Great topic! Going no where I know of yet |
Vacation? what the heck is that?? All my travel is work based, and my busy season has just begun. My dearest wish is to manage a day-trip or two with my husband the dogs, to do some hiking or fishing . Not holding my breath, though! |
No real plans here--but I sure wish we did. I have taken off so much time lately-- my Father-In-Laws passing, and now this silly back injury that REFUSES to heal... I have three weeks scheduled in July and hope we can get away somewhere then. John is going on his annual golf trip next week. That is typically my "me " time. I plant the garden, flower beds, paint, and just piddle. I don't know how I will get it done this year, when I am still livin' on pain pills. |
The pain pills might lead to alot of creativity especially if you are alone! I'm going to Hilton Head in June...really a quiet beach and very nice. I will spend most of the summer in Georgia when grandaughter #2 arrives! I'm looking forward to holding and smelling a newborn as well as playing with Zoe who turns 2 next week...she is at the discovery age and she's very loving! It will be much hotter than up here in the mountains of North Carolina but time with family is a treat! I may have to come home on weekends to cool off and rest. |
I'm going to Jamaica in a couple of weeks. I'll probably go to NYC in June or July depending on the best deal that I find. By that time I hope my dog has enough coat to show in Canada and then, if all really goes well, we'll be ready to show in breed in the fall everywhere. |
Ooh, sounds like some very nice vacations! I'm in AmeriCorps doing a year national service, and I don't get vacation leave until my obligation ends in August -- about a week before I'm moving to Chicago. But, if it counts, I think I'll take a few weekend trips up there to paint and work on the house. I'll just pretend I'm in Hawaii or Hilton Head as I'm driving across the farmlands... |
Our baby girl gets her Masters on the 15th. After she passes her Boards, she will be going to her first site. She has accepted a travel job and gets a new site every 13 weeks. The current plan is for my mother and I to follow her to the first site - which may or may not be Portland, Oregon. So far the possibilities have been Destin, Roanoake, New Haven, Chicago, Tuscon, San Jose, Sacrmento, and Boulder. Very interesting sites anyway. It will take 3-4 days to get there, a good portion of it will be new to me. We did a girl's trip last year and had a blast. My husband and I want to go see her for a long weekend, at each of the sites. |
We travel a lot our our job, and while its tiring its also a good deal of fun. We end up seeing many freinds when we travel, and we try and frequent nice restaurants as well. We'll be in Charlotte, San Diego, Orlando, Baltimore and New York City before the year is out, with the possibility to a trip to England thrown in for November. Sounds wrong, but we seem to value our home time more since we are on the road so much. Vacation has become a week spent at home with no deadlines! Maybe if we could sneak off to the mountains with the dogs for a weekend.... |
My company gives us a trip every year--it is a nice perk! We are going to Milan Italy next week for that. This summer we are taking a road trip with the boys to visit historical sights from Tennessee through Virginia and Maryland. I have a 'girls' trip to NYC in August. I want to go visit my sister in Ft. Lauderdale sometime this summer so we will work that in too. Looking forward to all of it. |
Wow!!! MILAN! That sounds magnificent!!! |
We are off to Menorca in a couple of weeks. Its our 30th Wedding Anniversary and we're going back to the same hotel where we had our honeymoon! Can't wait! |
Winter around the corner I am going to become a bear and hybernate, cold cold cold YUK |
With the move to Germany in the near future we have no real vacation plans. He comes home from Iraq in June-- just in time for child #2's graduation... then the rest of any free time will be spent getting same child settled into college, then the holidays we will spend traveling to see family before heading out to Deutchland..... |
The only trip I know for sure is in October when my new grandbaby is born we'll be heading to Michigan. My granddaughter comes down in June and spends the Summer here with us. We live in the "Vacation Capital of the USA" so there are many places to go and explore....so once Jenah gets here we will start putting our plans together. |
Great Post!!! Nice to hear about others, and their plans for vacation. |
We just returned from Cartagena, Colombia - loved it! September going to Costa Rica - I have been there for spanish school - loved it. Now my husband wants to see it. In November I am taking my mom to Buenos Aires, Argentina for her 80th birthday. Two years ago i started studying spanish for a few reasons - now I love to visit spanish speaking countries to practice. I do get practice here in Florida too. ha! Really started spanish because I am involved with a foundation in Honduras that houses and educates boys and asists girls with education. I go often to visit and help out. Love the country and the people. |

If you are looking for Spanish peaking countries to visit, you should add that to your list! |
Joan and I have no plans. |
maybe.............hopefully.............praying...Nationals????? ...we'll see..... |
Taking the dogs in our trailer to do our annual camping trip to Cannon Beach, Oregon. Can't wait to be beside that magnificent stretch of ocean and feel it's healing power. I'm drained this year from work and the loss of a good friend and need some peaceful r+r . We love all the quaint little beach towns along the north Oregon coast . Very dog friendly and lots of good camping spots. |

No big vacations here this year. I am going to use my week of vacation at work to go to the national in September. We usually go on vacation in the winter to a warm place when the weather is really ugly here. We have a pool in the backyard & hate to waste the money while we do have any good weather here in the summer time. Plus we have 2 older dogs right now....12 years & 10 years. We aren't keen on leaving them & being too far away. They are in good health but with my luck............... anyway, Ive been almost everywhere in North America on vacation at one time or another. Yes, one year my family spent 13 weeks touring the entire 48 continental states. So vacations aren't any big deal to me..... that is unless it involves my dogs or sitting on the beach with a good book & several margaritas! |
Just made our reservation for July for the Outer Banks, NC. Can't wait! Sammie is coming with us, and our kids will come down for 3-4 days. Didn't get away last summer so I REALLY need this!! |
Allison, I have not been to Barcelona yet. I was in Spain and did see a lot of areas, but at the time I did not speak spanish. I will be there again someday. |

I just got back from a week in CA with my family and we'll probably go back out there for another week in August. After that, no plans |

I almost NEVER go anywhere, and my husband travels for pleasure even less... But this year I am going to Vancouver for a (don't judge me) fan convention (a first for me). And, best of all, I'm going with my best friend, who's even more geeky than I am on the subject. Since I'm leaving my hubby behind, and my bff's wife isn't interested in coming, we're trying to convince the two of them to at least go out for dinner or something while we're out hanging with the rich and famous! (Okay, stalking them is probably more accurate.) It's been five years easily since my last trip, unless you count a one night overnight across the border in Grand Forks to shop last summer. (And we did a theme trip by staying in the scariest motel we could find. I'm glad we did it, but I'm totally over it now.) |
Tracie you've totally peaked my curiosity! What fan convention might this be???? Twilight maybe? I heard they were having some of those across the US and Canada.... |

Interesting subject...just talked to dh about that tonight. I gave him some dates for a two-weeker. We have talked about many interesting places to go. One, I want to go back to the mountains in NC. I loved it there last year and am on a campaign to get dh to move. Another one, "I" have never been to California. I always swore I would not go because this would be when they fell into the ocean. I am ready to swim with the big fishes. Of course, I have to deal with my back first. If I have to have surgery that will eat all my vacation. |
Yes!!!!! Supernatural. (Please don't mock me.) I already have my ticket and will be meeting Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins, Richard Speight (and two more whose names I've temporarily blanked on) in person, and can get each to sign anything I want. And frankly, I now worship Eric Kripke. (Don't worry Joss Whedon....you're still a close second...but I crossed over to the other side somewhere between the episodes Hollywood Babylon and A Very Supernatural Christmas.) (Please don't mock me.) I fully admit I'm obsessed. I always thought it was sad that I missed the real time Star Trek Mania, and have a best friend who shares my Supernatural addiction (although he's trying to retain his masculinity in the process...) so we're off. A fan convention was on my "things to do before I die" list, so this is perfect. (Please don't mock me.) And, in only six days we get to see the Winchester boys (hopefully) thwart the apocalype just in time for summer holidays. Again, don't mock me. I just happen to be wearing my t shirt right now that says, "Forget princess. I want to be a Winchester." Several of my students have one that says "vampire" so I asked them to wear theirs the day I unveiled mine. Yes, I'm a geek. Okay, on second thought....mock me if you must. I can take it. |
I would NEVER mock. I'm a HUGE Star Wars fan, and have done many whacky fan things. And I'm really into comic books, and spend alot of my time fanning it up over that stuff. So no mocking here, promise!!!!! |
