I'm so ashamed that I didn't see this sooner. I usually browse everyday Anyway, this is my home area, and I contacted the owner. Turns out the dog is a Komondor, and she is the second owner already in this puppys life. THe owner was asking rehoming fee but she is willing to surrender to rescue to find a "great home for a great dog". She said that she is good with her small kids and other pets, and is housebroken. I could only locate one Komondor rescue and have emailed. Hopefully they will respond quickly. The dog is gorgeous!! Big solid white fluff ball!! I added pictures of her, waiting for approval. If anyone has any suggestions or wants to add to their family..... |
Oooh... thanks for contacting the owner. Jill might have some ideas on who else to contact. Hopefully this shaggy girl will find a good home soon. |
Here are Marla's pictures. Haven't heard from rescue as of this morning. Hopefully today |
Do you know why the owner wants to give her up? |
poor girl, she is so pretty, hope she gets a furever home |
Hello all, thanks for your interest with beautiful Marla. I still haven't heard from my rescue email, but I did find a KCA rescue number, and will forward that to the owner. Orrrr, I may call myself tomorrow. The owner said that while Marla is good with her kids, she is rambunctious and too playful for their tender ages. She said that she lives in a mobile home, and it is too confining, and not enough room to play and run. All the usual excuses. Probably an affordability issue as well from what wasn't said. She does seem to have her heart in the right place with rescue, so I will give her all the support I can. Thanks for any advice... |
Great News!! I've been in touch with Komondor rescue from Wisconsin, and they are going to help!! Yea!! And a double blessing. Chloe's groomer knew a local woman who works with a no kill shelter, but does her own rescues, vetting, and placements. She is from Hungary, where Komondors are native, and she is so excited to help. I am going to pick up Marla at 11am tomorrow and deliver her a local vet for exam and needs. The angel will pick her up tomorrow and foster her until a furever home is found!! I cannot believe Marla's good fortune!! I'm so excited to be a part of this process!! Thank all of you for your support and good wishes!!!! Fingers crossed for a successful retrieval tomorrow!!! |
What wonderful news! I'm thrilled you found a rescue with knowledge of the breed that's willing to help. Thank you for getting involved and for making this happen. |
I did my best to console her previous owner as she tearfully handed Marla to me during a cloud burst. I will keep her informed as to her future as promised. Marla is a sweetie, happy, very expressive, and alert. The end result is that Marla is safe, secure and being vetted today. She was matted to skin in several areas, so probably shaved by now. She will find a great home in no time. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction with her. I've been riding the high all day!! |
That is great news for Marla, she sure is a cute little puppers. |

If not too late, I would wait for the opinion of someone experienced with the breed to see if the "matts" just need to be split into cords. If I was closer, I would love to have her.
