I am so glad you posted that - I am looking at their registration form now. http://www.audubonaction.org/site/Surve ... EY_ID=3400 There's a possibility I could arrange some time off of work to do this as well. I'm going to talk to my team and family about it. This thing is just getting worse and worse with no end in sight. |
Good for you! I have long considered joining one of the nursing or animal groups that helps out in natural (or manmade) disasters. I just haven't ever been able to arrange it. It would leave my homecare client in quite the lurch, as there are just 5 nurses who cover 24/7 care. I know Todd would be able to keep the home front under control for a week! |
I already got a response back. They said to be patient and someone would get back with me to tell me where my help will be needed or they will forward my informtion on to other groups that would need my help. Lisa and Frankie |
There is another website with volunteer information. www.tristatebird.org/ I found the information on a site about Dawn detergent. Lisa and Frankie |
Thank you for volunteering. Volunteers truly make a difference in so many ways. Keep us posted. |
That's great that you would offer your time to help others! I have to ask though...who would take care of frankie??? |
Well at first I thought Troy my husband would, but he says he would like to go with me. So Frankie does have alot of options. My sister could come here and stay, she doesn't work. He would probably love to stay at pet smart for a few days. Or his dog walker would love to have him stay with her. I wouldn't or couldn't be gone for too many days. Lisa and Frankie |
Oh, I was thinking you would be goimne for months on end |
Oh I couldn't do that. I figured If i could use some of my vacation time I would do that. I was hoping that any little bit of help would be good. Lisa and Frankie |
Update: I got an email from the Audobon society today. They said that Bp is in charge of organizing all volunteer efforts. That the first group of people to be called in will be people with hazmat training and people with wild animal rescue experience. They also said that 9000 people had volunteered as of Saturday. As things progress they will be in contact. Lisa and Frankie |

At work we had a team of 3 doctors and 5 nurses who went to Haiti for ten days after the earthquake. They said in one 24 hr period they'd seen over 100 people for various things. It was a great experience for them and they had just the best things to say about the people. Volunteers make the world go 'round.... |
