P.S. Our beautiful 6 yr. old Goldendoodle Molly, went to the Rainbow Bridge on Tuesday night to be with her canine siblings, Noodles and Mac. We are still so devastated to have lost her but know she is in a better place. No longer having to fight the horrible battle with cancer. Jackie |

Welcome Jackie. First, I am so sorry about your dear Molly. Its always so hard to say good bye but you are right when you say, she is in a better place now playing with her siblings As far as the new pup...Congratulations! I think what is meant by saying not over exercising, don't allow jumping ( like on and off high places, the car, etc ), afford lots of rest and be careful on bare floors for slipping. Puppies that young will tire easily and really do need their rest. So, like an infant, its play a few minutes, pee and poop and rest a few hours! And don't forget to get a full Vet examination soon after the new pup comes home. As far as walking, you will be taking the pup out ALOT in the beginning for housebreaking purposes. But I would avoid long walks at this age and definately wouldn't do any jogging or running for a while! well, with the pup anyway Keep reading this forum. There is lots and lots of knowledge here! |
Thanks for your kind words about Molly, Ashley. Also, thanks for the great advice! We will be picking up Kolby on the 7th and have a Vet appt on the morning of the 8th. I will post pictures once we bring him home. (That is if I can figure out how to do it!) I love your picture! Jackie |
I'm so sorry about Molly. Once your pup has had all his injections, you can start with 10 minute walks and build up gradually. The unwritten guideline is to wait until he is a year old before you do anything like running, jumping, agility etc. Remember mental stimulation will tire your pup out as much as walking. I love the name Kolby!! |
I'm sorry to hear about Molly Kenley ,my pup, has just reached 13 weeks and has completed his jabs .Today was his first outing .We were out 20 mins but didn't get very far as he wanted to sit and watch everything pass by. I will keep taking him out for 20 min of light exercise(on the lead) till he is about 6 months old and then very slowly up the time until he is on the same exercise as my other OES. Congratulations on your new pup !!!!!!!! |
