CHIN HAIR

how short should I keep Bella's chin hair?? I have clip her body so that it is about 1 inch long all over but didn't know what to do about her head so I left it alone. On the top of her head it is about 3 inches and under her chin it is close to four inches. I didn't want to shave her head. I kind of wanted a fluffy puppy cut. Do most people cut the chin hair a little closer than that on the top of the head. It is causing a lot of really really wet kisses after she drinks 8O

I cut the hair as short as I can get away with and still keep his longer hair on the face looking cute (...and even). I hate the wet kisses too. It's just a matter of preference b/c I don't shave the head, so even when it's short ...it's not super short.

We keep 2 towels in the kitchen that we hang on the door. When one is wet, we use the other ...and at the end of the night, they both go in the wash. That helps too if you're trying to grow your doggies hair out :)
I shave my dogs chins. Not only does it get really drippy and wet, I have noticed that if my dogs exercise routinely and drink water, it tends to smell a bit funny. I will let it grow till its maybe two inches and then I buzz it off again.

I'm not as diligent at keeping their faces wiped down after they drink... they seem to be happy to use my pant legs for that 8O
I trim it down to about an inch. I hate the "goat beard" look!

This is one of the more recent ones I have -

It stays fairly clean and dries quickly, but doesn't get that pointy, snippy faced look!
thanks for that chin shot. Now I know how short to go and how it will look. I didn't want her to look wierd with fluff on top and nothing below but it looks good trimmed like that. That is about the lenght of her hair on top of her head
:phew:

At first when I saw this subject I was worried you wanted to know about human chin hairs....

Not that I have any of those ever
Here is a picture of my puppers. I had shaved their chins using a 10 blade

And if you do cut it shorter than you are comfortable with, don't worry! It grows back FAST.

Haha Yup, My first thought was human chin hairs. **giggle**
i shave billies chin quite short, i then thin out his muzzle and trim. if you are having issues with a wet mush, try a road refresher bowl www.roadrefresher.com but its available alot of places, it only allows a small puddle of water so they have to sip it instead on drowning the beard in it, i dont know what i would do without it!
Both of mine get shaved under the chin. Gar still manages to get a wet drippy mouth though
