Imagine my surprise when He asked if I were going to breed them at all because they'd been looking for sheepies for a long time in the area and never found one. He went on to tell me that they always look in my yard when they drive by just to see if they are out. Sorry Mister-- no breeding here. Just lots of romping, wet chins, and wookie talk. Anyone else had things like this happen?? |

I have never had anyone come to my door but I can't go for a walk around town without someone wanting to stop and talk and pet Guinness. I have even taken her to the school that I worked at to see the children because they were reading Farley (For Better or Worse) comic book. Guinness loves all the attention that she gets and gets quiet miffed if we pass someone and they don't stop. She wants to go after them and say "look at me, you didn't say Hi". I am always happy to give information about OES when they ask. |
Yup, I have had people come to my door and stop me on the street. |
Never come to my door but I get stopped everywhere I take Tiggy. |
I am forever being asked if my two are for sale...doesn't seem to matter where we go... |
the kids in our neighborhood will come to our door to ask if Tonks and Luna can come out to play. A good deal of the kids play in our neighbor's yard with his son, and they sometimes ask the girls to come and play. I also get people pointing, commenting, and even reaching over to pet my dogs if we are sitting in traffic or at a red light. I looked back one day to see a person petting Tonks and Luna through the window while we were at a stop light. |
I guess I was just surprised someone actually came to the door. I've had people stop me on walks to pet them or point at the car when we drive by. But never come to the house. HAHAHA I didn't know whether to be amused or creeped out. (It's amazing what my imagination will do when Hubby's deployed like this) |
People always stop & ask us questions. What is amazing is that most people are never afraid of them! They just automatically want to reach out & touch all that hair! I get the biggest kick tho' out of the drivers that slow down in traffic to point at them & honk! Never had anyone come to my door either but them I live out in the country, house is 150 feet off the road & the drive is even longer & I generally walk them on the local walking path when we can get out & do that. |
Not to my door, but everywhere else. Especially when I am in the car and Heart pops her head up (she is down in a crouch position, until the car stops then she pops up and looks out the back window... ~~I have had people try to ask questions at a stop light...it is very difficult to hear them AND then to answer their questions. I really feel I should have a sign under the window... ''IT'S A SHEEPDOG' "NO, SHE IS FIXED" " SHEDS LONG STRANDS OF HAIR ARE EASILY PICKED OFF" "A GIRL.........HEART...no...not hard...HearT!!! light changes.. BY!!!!!!!!! |
I feel like a rock star when I take Asterisk and Wendel anywhere. I always get a boost to self confidence, too. People who would normally avoid eye contact and walk past me are now smiling ear to ear like little kids. Everyone asks to pet them or just gives them a good scratch behind the ears. And everyone LOVES Asterisk's wiggle! When she gets excited her butt wiggles so hard she can't even walk straight. People haven't approached my car when I drive with them, but they will try to talk to me. Mostly a quip like "are those real? Is that a teddy bear?" People drive slowly in their trucks to get a good look at them. People are always surprised too, when I tell them that No, Wendel is a purebred OES, they can have blue eyes. |
i take my boys every sunday dow nto this cool village takes me about 1 hour to get one block last sunday was the best a guy told me how cute my irish wolfhound was dreamer shocks alot of people since he is so tall.. the worst is in the car why do people have to bark at them when they stick their heads out |
Three things come to mind as I read this. We were "up north" and this guy came up to us and said he had to meet the dogs. He has seven sheepdogs Last year, in Black Mountain NC, a pickup stopped in the middle of the street and out of it pops a women(the passenger) and she comes running. She had to meet the dogs...she has a sheepdog. Last year, somewhere NC, we stopped to see a waterfall and a group of Asian's(?) came up to adore the dogs and then HAD to have their picture taken with them. It really is amusing to take the dogs somewhere. They are not the average dog and people really want to stop and pet them and talk about them. |
I call Patch the magnet dog. Wherever I go she attracts attention - the car, the park, walks, our therapy visits. While I am working in the beds out front she sits in the yard taking in the sights and smells, and it is not unusual for someone to drive by very slowly with their cell phone out the window taking a picture of her. She is my movie star girl. |
