How long does it take you to fall asleep?

Dh just went to bed less then ten minutes ago. I can hear him snoring.

I made the decision to stop sleeping(or lack thereof) in the same room as dh because it usually took me up to two hours to get to sleep because he snores SO loud.

Now when I go to my bed in my room I set the T.V. timer for a half hour and am usually gone before it goes off.

Yeah, I quit sleeping with DH because of his snoring. Did the ear plugs for awhile which worked well, but my own arthritis was interferring with my sleep. Too many turn overs trying to get comfortable.....even with a Select Comfort. Of course working around a sheepdog didn't help. One night I tried the recliner and promptly fell asleep and slept the whole night! Obviously no tossing and turning. So moved it into the spare bedroom and now alternate between the recliner and guest bed which I guess is now my bed. I need to have my head elevated when I sleep, more than a pillow or two so really the recliner works well for me and it's the type that folds way back.
I set my TV timer to 15 mins and I'm rarely awake longer than it takes to go off.. the only thing that would keep me awake is a cat pawing my face - gotta love em

Funnily enough I'm currently taking part in a sleep study where I need to record that kind of info on a daily basis (I work in a University Psychology dept so there's always some study or other to get involved in..) I was really surprised how quickly I was getting to sleep.. wouldn't have thought that before I actually had to take note of it!
Josh can't fall asleep unless the television is on, so 95 percent of the time he falls asleep on the couch. As soon as I slip under the covers, I have Asterisk at my feet and Wendel on the floor next to me and we're out cold.
I usually fall asleep moments after my head touches the pillow. And I am out cold until morning.

Todd sleeps soundly, but gets up 1-2 times every night. And he says I always fall asleep before he does - if we go to bed at the same time. Although most nights he is in bed long before me and is usually asleep.
My 3 grown kids say they are narcoleptic sleepers, just like their parents.
We can pretty much sleep anywhere. I even slept on the floor of the Honolulu airport between flights (I was in college - younger and more flexible!).
Lee will be out in a few seconds. It can take me hours. Lucky guy.
It is not the falling asleep that I have problems with it is the staying asleep. I sleep for a couple of hours and then I'm wide awake. Thank God for my DVR because I use that when I'm awake at 1:00 a.m. and watch some programs. It used to bother me alot about the early wake up, which only added to the problem. So now I watch TV or go on the computer and wait till the dogs are ready to eat at 6:00.
Takes me forever to fall asleep.... I'm usually still awake at 2 or 3 am.... sucks
Yeah, staying asleep  Last night we had a little rain and lightning storm. I napped thru one a few days ago so missed the dogs' excitement. Not last night. Harry and MO woke me up and insisted I shut window in DHs bedroom because noise was too much for them. Then they followed behind me and lorded over me and I tried to get back to sleep, (huff puff) "How can you go back to sleep when the world is ending??" (huff puff). These are my two snugglers but don't want to snuggle during storms, just huff-puff and drool.
2 minutes.......with a book
without ambien, hours...with ambien, about 20 minutes.....

with brian home, hours (he snores)... with brian at work, about 20 minutes....

with brian at work and ambien about 5 minutes.....
It usually takes me 15 minutes to a half hour after putting my book down to fall asleep. I used to think that was pretty good, until I met my hubby. He can literally, and I am not joking, fall asleep in SECONDS. I have never seen anything like it! I can't tell you how many times he has asked me a question, and he has fallen asleep before I have finished my answer. I am so jealous.......

Laurie and Oscar, who sleeps like the deaf, and the dead!
I normally fall asleep in 10 minutes as I come home from work at around 12am. On other days, like today when I'm at home, Charlie sleeps long!!! before me, something about 8/9pm, she doesnt snore but she wonders around all night from my room to the hall and then to Max room and to her sofa and back. We've got a wooden floor so you can hear her footsteps! LOL
It takes me ages :| I sleep downstairs with the poochies now, mainly because hubby snored so loud, also it was easier to house train Dillon, I usually kept patio doors ajar all night safe in the knowledge that my two shepherds were watching over me

I am suffering the dreaded "change" (menopause) so night sweats, toilet breaks are a regular thing for me arrrgggggg

I must, and I mean must read for at least an hour or so (often much longer) before being able to unwind enough to fall asleep. My husband drops off the second his head hits the pillow, even though he insists that my reading light keeps him up, the snoring tells a different story!

OH MY GOSH... My Hubs can do that too!!!!! Instantly asleep. He says it was ingrained in him all these years in the Army being deployed at a moments notice to anywhere....he says it was drilled into them when he was a younger soldier "Better sleep each minute you can cuz you never know when you'll get another chance" and he sure can!! At the drop of a hat, out cold.

I think its sooo funny that you guys can't sleep with snoring hubs!!  Mine snoring puts me to sleep. I've often times told him while he's deployed I can't sleep because there's no snoring beside me!! It's too quiet.  I even remember once tapping him till he woke up and told him to "snore for me" so I could fall asleep (that was years ago before the kids were teens) and we still laugh about it!!!!
