Why do you want to remove the undercoat? And exactly what kind of a brush are you talking about? |
Sorry it is a slicker brush and I have heard that if you are not showing your dog you can remove some of the undercoat. Not really sure about this part of grooming, this is our first OES puppy. |
SOme show people use a slicker brush to groom all th etime (or it seems like it) If you aren't going to show removing some of the undercoat can help keep the dog matt free. You need to start grooming as soon as possible to get them used to it. For short periods of time. A soft slicker brush should be okay to use on a puppy. |
A slicker brush is good to use when their coat is short & anytime on legs & feet. I use it to get little mats out. It won't necessarily take the undercoat out for you unless you REALLY brush away. As for when to start...........the sooner the better. We start our puppies on the table getting used to being brushed lightly as soon as their eyes open. |
