Got a call from the company yesterday saying that I "was the clear, clear leader" of all the folks they interviewed. She said "it was a no brainer", and that they were "very enthused and excited after talking to me". She told me that pending background check, reference check, education check, employment check, etc., they'd be making me a formal offer today. Got the call about 5 PM tonight with the offer. I nearly fell over when she told me the offer. I wasn't expecting so much money and such good benefits. I was blown away. Of course I accepted. So as of today, I am no longer a leech on society. I am so excited. I was so impressed with the folks I talked with and the things they said during my interview. There's room for growth within. They like to promote from within. It's a private company so they're not beholden to shareholders and Wall Street. It's going to be such a breath of fresh air to NOT work for a public company making high volume consumer goods. So I start on April 26th as a failure analyst of sorts. I will be analyzing returned goods, finding root cause, and driving the issue backwards to stop it from happening again. Kind of like a CSI kind of thing. I'll also be analyzing the data from failed product to determine which are the most pressing issues and helping resolve those issues. The best part is that I didn't have to touch any of the buy-out money from Chrysler nor did I have to sell the Challenger. So after 10.5 months of unenjoyment, I'm now looking forward to rebuilding my life. I feel like George Costanza when he got the job with the Yankees in "The Opposite" episode. "I'm bustin', I tell ya Jerry, I'm bustin'"!! "I'm back in business, baby"!! |

She just a got a dream job here in the area 2 weeks ago, great salary and benefits, smaller local company that markets worldwide, in her area of expertise, but more interesting and challenging than her last position....... Believe me, that thought has crossed my mind. But I'm going to move slowly. Make sure the job is good & stable. Make sure I like them and they like me. Carefully look for a house. And then after that, who knows? |

Will you be staying in NY now or do you need to relocate? Nope. The company is in Skaneateles, NY, which is just outside of Syracuse. It's about a 20 minute commute. I'll make sure the job is stable and that all parties are happy and then I'll start looking for a house here. |
Congratulations! Don't forget to bring your new boss a calzone on your first day.... More Seinfeld |
