I LOVE my Droid! It does everything I have ever wanted or needed plus Verizon's network has great coverage. The thing that I love most is the integration with google -- calendar, email, voice, contacts, search, etc. You can specify exactly what is sync'd automatically. I am even using Google Navigate now instead of my garmin GPS (whose car charger went bad and they want to charge me $70 to replace!) I also enjoy the integration with facebook in that pictures and status show up automatically in my address book (you can choose to limit to friends already in your phone, only those with phone numbers, or all FB friends). LOVE IT. Was there any particular feature you need that you want to know more about? |
DO you mind if I ask how much your service plan is monthly to use all those features? I know I want to stick with Verizon becasue of the coverage (I travel a bit, have had just about every network and Verizon seems to be the best!) But I only pay about $60 a month now and don't want a big increase for services I don't use now - but would use with the new phone |
Ahh. That could be an issue. With all fees and charges, I pay $100/month: $60 for voice and text; $30 for unlimited data; and $10 for fees and taxes. There is a $10 plan for 25MB of data usage but my bill shows that I average 150MB/month. On the other hand, I replaced my expensive home service with a cheap SIP phone service that includes 911 using my broadband internet connection (http://www.sipgate.com) so I still use the inside wiring in my house to have multiple convenient phone handsets and I consolidated mobile and home phones using a Google Voice number -- so I save roughly $25/month there and have the convenience of a single caller id number whether I am calling from a home phone or my cellphone. Have I mentioned before that I am a telecom technology dork? |
got rid of my land line two years ago and never miss it!!! Is that $100 before or after the usual 19% discount for "various" business connections? In other words do you get a discount on your Verizon bill? This is looking promising if its before the discount. I will have to look at plans tonight when I get home. |
I have several Ifriends that will not use any device if it doesn't have an I preface. Several months ago, three of them surrendered their Iphones for Droid and haven't looked back. When I return to work, I will promptly dump my Blackberry and replace it with a Droid. Verizon, without a doubt is the best carrier for complete coverage in the US. System design and signal propigation is excellent. Most people have unrealistic expectations and forget they are talking on a wireless handset that transmitts at 600mw. Everything from building construction to your car electronics can mess up a radio frequency. I don't work for Verizon, I'm a wireless geek by trade. |
I don't get any discount. In Boulder, you can easily spot who has an iphone. They are the people talking on their phones out in the middle of the street -- because the service doesn't work inside or near buildings. |
I want a Motorola Droid badly but can't justify it right now. I'm not crazy about the fact they make you buy a $30 data plan with it. So maybe in the near future. |
