Our 81/2 month old boy is going to be neutered tomorrow. I know there is controversy around this issue, but after careful consideration we have decided to do it. Anyway, the vet's office said we have to keep him inactive for at least a week. Are you kidding?! Have they ever experienced an 8 month old sheepdog puppy? I can't imagine it. So, does anyone have any suggestions for us? Do you think he will really need this, or is it just being super cautious? I just can't imagine what the next week will be like if he needs to be still and/or crated other than being taken out to go to the bathroom. Any thoughts will be much appreciated. Kate |

For most neuters, as long as they are kept from extreme activity, they are ok. You can still go for walks and the like. Avoid racing around, jumping, anything that involves "work" - with exertion. Most of my students (in my classes) are fine if they schedule their neuter in the few days after their weekly classes - thay are able to be back in class like normal the following week. |
