In August of 2001, I was lucky enough to adopt 2 rescued OES (females)-aged 5 yrs and 10 yrs old. They grew up together and since I always wanted 2 and they did no want to split them up, I took them both and it was the best decision I ever made (for them and for me). Sadly in January 2005, Demi at 13 1/2 had to be put to sleep due to health problems and it broke my heart again. I am now looking for another sheepie to keep Dallas company (and myself also). I have contacted a few rescue org. and hope that one shows up soon as I find Dallas to be lonely and sad. These are 3 of the best dogs that I have ever seen and I hope that my next one is the same (one with special needs would also be welcomed in our house). I just love these angels to death and I will read and enjoyyours posts on a regular basis. Thanks, Pete |

Welcome to the forum Pete!
Sorry to hear of your losses, and they do work their way right into your heart don't they? If you go to www.oesocc.org you can contact the Canadian rescue through there. Also, you can check out www.neoesr.org even though they are in the states, they do place dogs everywhere if it is the right home and they can arrange transportation. I would also suggest www.petfinder.com, they often have many OES who need homes all over North America. Good luck in your search! |
Thanks for the info. I did contact all of them and am waiting on replies. I also applied for little Jeffey down in Texas and a 1 year old in Las Vegas.
I also looked at the other sections in this forum and I'm really impressed at how much info is available and everyone seems so friendly and able to share information each other. I could spend hours here but Dallas needs her walk now. Thanks again. Pete |
Welcome Pete! So sorry to hear about your sheepies that went to the Rainbow bridge. I hope you find a friend for Dallas soon! Good luck. |

Welcome to the forum, Pete! What's that you say - we're OBSESSED with our OES's??? NO! (What gave it away?? )
This forum is the absolute best for all kinds of info on everything sheepie. And just to chat about our "obsessions." Keep coming back! You won't be disappointed. Chris |
Nice to read all your replies.
I have a lot of pics of Nandi, Dallas and Demi but they were taken with a 35mm camera. Maybe I can find someone to scan them for me and then put them on a cd, I think I'll have to buy a digital in the near future to be able to post pics of my little angels. I really enjoy seeing all the pics of OES that people have and it makes me want to get 4 or 5 more (I would if i could afford it). How easy or hard is it to adopt an OES and get it across the border? Driving? By plane? Hope to find one soon. Pete |
Welcome Uncle Pete
I live in south MI and if you find a rescue and need help with transport please let me know. I am sorry to hear about your losses but the love you have for your dogs comes shining through. Best of luck with your search, your new dog is out there waiting for you. Holly |
Welcome Uncle Pete!!!!
We wish you the best on your luck for a new OES... Thanks for thinking about rescue! |
Hi.
Well I finally found a nice 13 month old male OES to adopt . He's located about 30 miles west of Philadelphia. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help in a relay to get him closer to the Canadian border. I live in Ottawa, Ontario and am only a few hours from the border. I read in one of the posts that there is a picnic in that area on the 14th of May which I won't be able to attend. Unless I can have him transported before that weekend, it would be great if someone attending that picnic would be able to help out on their way back. Here's a link to see him. http://www.petfinder.com/pet.cgi?action ... mpl=&stat= Thanks for your help and I hope that this works out. Uncle Pete |
Uncle Pete,
Congrats on finding Winston! I wish I still lived in NY state. I would love to help you get him home. Living in California I am no help...Sorry.. Elissa |
Welcome to the OES addiction club, Pete. Hope you can find a hook up in getting your new sheepie home. Wish I could help, but Missouri is a bit out of the way. Looking forward to the Pics. |
Hi.
Its been frustrating this past week trying to arrange tranporation and a flight for Winston and then finally being able to do it by car but the owner decided that it would be to long of a drive for him and has decided to put him back up for adoption. Thanks to who offered to help. Uncle Pete. |
That really sucks. I am sorry that happened to you Uncle Pete |
