Where did you get your pup in Texas and other questions.
Who here has gotten a dog from Texas and from whom, and what breeder would you personally recommend in this state? -- Why? Is your dog simply a pet, or do you show? Do you participate in agility competitions? Where in Texas do you live, and are there many OES owners in central Texas? I'm trying to learn more about OES in my area, and despite being able to do my own footwork about individual breeders on the OESCA referral list, I would like to know more of what OWNERS have to say from experience. | I am from Central TX (Ft. Hood) but currently live 2.5 hrs away. I actually got my first dog from a byb in WI and the second from a reputable breeder in CO. The cost was actually CHEAPER to fly the dog to my place and trust the breeder to help me decide on the dog than it was to buy from another breeder in TX. I looked at several and I found them by going to a dog show. I've met breeders with dogs from tojo and lambluv which are two very reputable kennel names that folks here always talk about. I talked to them long enough on SEVERAL occasions for several hours to have a lot to say about both, and I'd definitely get a dog from them. My dogs are simply pets. My dog has done herding, but just as a hobby, nothing serious or actively done. I can put you in contact with the President of the Lonestar OES Club of Greater TX (if you're not already) ...and she can help you find more breeders not listed on there if you're interested. A few shows coming up are: Beaumont - April 30 and May 1 & 2 Reliant World Series of Dog Shows - July 23, 24, & 25 |

| Joy says she is getting out of OES but she is going to be whelping another litter i was told just yesterday. Enid Fritts is also in the area and her dogs came from ToJo as well...... I belive the litter is one of the pups from Joy/Enid's breeding. There is also Lannie Williams in the Houston area (whose dogs ALSO come from Joy's breeding stock). There are many other's in Texas that breed but the ToJo lines have been around for quite a while. | TO-Jo's pups are not only have beauty...but brains too!!! Heart, a littermate of Callie and Checkers, is working on her EX.Rally title, is a Dog Scout and a certified therapy dog and she is only 2 1/2!!! We are beginning agility classes and possibly obedience. She has also had her hips and elbows tested as Good and Normal. Very happy with my little pup!!!! |
