AKC has a nice piece on it http://www.akc.org/enewsletter/akc_breeder/2006/march/kennel.cfm
Great article...if the message were only taken to heart.

Now that is wishful thinking Wendy
Hi Lorie, I registered. Nice to hear from you. I love my new puppy. She says "woof" to you and Jazz. Nancy
Hi Nancy. Welcome.
Hi Nancy, Glad you are here. I am so glad you love your new puppy, who would get a puppy and not love it ??? Looking forward to hearing you share on the forum . You will learn alot here, there is sooooooooo much good information on here and alot of wonderful breeders willing to share their experiences :D
The AKC explanation is very good. It is very easy for a 3rd party to understand. But it's really hard to convince some of these breeders out there that they fall into this catagory now & then  If you breed or even if you don't breed but buy & show your dog, you can fall into this catagory. We all love our dogs but we have to be honest with ourselves in that they are not perfect & not always the best dog out there. People can become so obsessed with winning............ :(
Welcome Nancy!
Thank you Kerry and Marilyn.
Hi Lori,
It was nice meeting you at the Syracuse dog show. Congrats on Jazzy!!

Hi Nancy,
Glad you could make it to the board. It was nice meeting you and your adorable pup. What's her name?

I am lucky - my breeder has pointed out my dogs weaknesses as well as strengths.

Lets not forget too that even though we have a fairly simple standard everyone seems to interpret it differently  and in my experience most breeders put an emphasis on one or more parts of the standard that they focus on. Face it - no one has bred the perfect dog yet, that what the "sport" is all about ;)
Hi Mark, My new puppy's name is Vesper. It is a James Bond theme litter and Vesper Lynd was a double agent (broke James' heart of course) in one of the movies. Thank you for asking. Hope to see you again sometime. Nancy

That's why I only ask Cathy what she doesn't like or wishes Owen had more or less of. It's easy to find good in your own dog. Someone going on and on about how great he is doesn't help you learn anything. I'd rather have someone tell me honestly where he may be lacking so I can recognize why another dog is or isn't better than him. You'll never learn anything unless you can see both sides.

Hey! What about me? I bred him too
^ LOL. Maybe I should have said I only bug Cathy, because I see her more. :) If I saw you more, I'd bug you, too. I'm happy to have you tell me everything that's wrong, too!
Marilyn and Jill you wrote it best :!: Thank you, there is always so much to learn on here from all of you who have years more experience than Rick & I thank you :D
