Looking for an OES in Maryland

I am in Maryland and I have been looking for an OES on and off for over a year. There aren't any breeders listed in Maryland. If anyone knows of a good breeder in MD, DC, VA or PA that is within driving distance, would you please let me know? I would actually love to do a rescue over getting a new puppy but they seem to either go as quickly as they come available or aren't fit for homes that have cats or children. (I have both) In addition, we have an active lifestyle as our kids are involved in a lot of sports. I need a dog that would be socially comfortable with people and other dogs because our dog would be going with us whenever possible.

hi, how about checking the rescue forum here, melissa frost has a dog she's lookin for a home for. you can read about sam there and pictures.

Many rescues filter out homes with small children, if yours are older and/or experienced with dogs they might be more willing to place a dog with you.

That said, I think you're spot on with looking for an adult dog from rescue. Buying a puppy in your circumstance would be a complete crapshoot, and either you'd need to alter your lifestyle more than you'd like or place the dog for adoption.

In MD I would be certain to contact neoesr.org and talk with the placement director. Sometimes fate has a way of sneaking up on you when you put yourself in the right
places.
