Blocking the T.V....a sheepie trait?

If we turn on the T.V. Ferdinand has always seemed entranced with it...he will get up from wherever he is and stand right in front of it, completely blocking it from view. I always thought it was "just his thing" and would put him out if we were going to watch to prevent my husband from fussing. However....Felix has started doing the EXACT same thing. RIGHT IN FRONT of it...and they DON'T move. weird....

Our Basset and pug could care less about the t.v....but the sheepies....they are like kids!!! Right in front, cocking their heads like "What the HECK is THAT?"

Are they tube TVs or flat panels?
How close do they stand to it?
Do they look at the screen or just block your view?
It is the standard old fashioned block T.V..about 20 inches...color. They stand directly in front of it about 1 foot away looking at the screen in total bewilderment. Then, often they will begin to sniff around, and will plop down in front of it, watching. We can not see a thing...and they seem to become deaf at that point and will only move when I MAKE them move.

mine would only watch dog shows :rimshot:

u need a bigger screen or teach them to lay down if they wanna watch with you. :D
Can't get a bigger screen.....it has to be small enough to tuck out of the way during the day as I hate living rooms with tv's as the centerpiece. So....I'll just have to train em! :clappurple:
:clappurple: watching tv isnt good for you the sheepies know that..clever pups. Summer often parks herself in front of our tv but that is because she wants us to play not watch that stupid box!
It's true! They are so clever.... My husband does get annoyed though.
If by "TV" you mean "Everywhere Ron wants to walk, especially in narrow hallways and doorways" then YES! it is a sheepie trait.
Bobby insisted that Chauncey wanted a new flat screen TV, at least 32" for our bedroom as a Christmas present this year. Bob went along to pick it out, said he knew exactly what Chauncey wanted. Evidently Chauncey doesn't like my evening TV schedule and they decided the old 20" in the BR wasn't up to their standards. Santa got the hint and now " the guys" go in and cuddle on the bed to watch their fav's on Chauncey's new TV and I get to watch what I want without dodging a sheepie head
That is hilarious. Patch doesn't know the difference between the tv and a lamp - LOL. :cow:
Mine dogs don't block the TV because it is up out of the way, but they do, however, respond to doorbells, dogs barking babies crying, children crying ect that they hear on the TV so bark so loud (3 barking dogs) that I miss what is said, so have to either stop the program or back the program up and wait for the dogs to quiet down. I don't know what I did before DVRs.
I just got a really soothing whale song C.D....I love it. However.....it drives the sheepies INSANE! They got SO upset when the whales started singing....crying and barking and running around in hot pursuit of....you guess it....a beached whale. :clappurple: Every-time I turn it on, they look up in total confusion and start raising about whining and barking, looking everywhere for the source of the noise. My husband says that they know that whale song should NOT be here in Montana and are disturbed by the contradiction! I even tried to just play it when they were outside, but as soon as I turned it on, I looked out and saw them on the trampoline with their heads cocking back and forth, and then they raced off barking and whining all around the yard until I turned it off. 8O Looks like I'll never get to listen to whales unless I buy earplugs. However, when we watch nature programs with the kids, they go nuts when a baby animal gets killed (as they ALWAYS do in nature programs...sigh) It takes a while to settle them down. My sheepies seem to be multi-lingual. :aww:
