Well recently he's started countersurfing. Mostly on the baby's highchair tray. Should I be happy b/c this means he's feeling better and it doesn't hurt him to stand on his hind legs like it used to? Or should I be worried that a medicine he's taking is causing him to be starving and resorting to pilfering... Oh, and I definitely think he's feeling better, though...he now runs down the stairs, always skipping the last 2 and before leaving the bedroom he rears up on his hind legs in excitement to go downstairs... |

I'd be happy. Not only do you have a happier dog, but you are going to have nice clean counters |
Yea, he feels better!!! I'm sorry I missed the posts as to what Barney's taking or eating that makes him feel better... |
although it was my affie and not my sheepie, this guy wouldn't touch anything but meat and cheese.never take a snack from anyone. i believe he was 5 or 6 at the time. my sister came down ready for i believe a baby shower, when i heard a blood curdling scream. he had gone in pantry/laundry room and eaten the cake she had made. |

Stacy, right now he's just on prednisone and ketoconazole (a yeast infection fighting drug). He WAS on a thyroid med but we stopped b/c of diarrhea, but as soon as he's done with the keto we'll start it back up. |
I am glad Barney is feeling better. The increased appetite could be a result of the pred. Laurie |
So glad Barney is feeling better..NOW he can join the OES surfer club...Heart is one of the officers!!!!! |
Well you wanted to be less wasteful. He's just helping. |
Great news that Barney's feeling better. Prednisone is a BIG appetite stimulant, it often stimulates thirst too. |
Be careful with the Pred......they gain weight.....especially if they are also counter surfing. "Fortuantely" Jack's hips are not strong.......it's bad enough he can lay his head on the table and the chin easily slips onto the counter, if he could climb we'd have a real problem. Between Jack and his partner is food thievery, Glacier, our grocery bills would be even higher. |
Yup, Yup the prednisone. I just stopped taking it after 10mg/day X at least 5 years. There were days when [b]I[b] could have eaten the couch. Now some of my Cushing symptoms are starting to get better and that will help with the weight, the other 30lbs belong to me Another thing to remember, dogs on prednisone will not only be extra hungry, but will have an increase in urination. Most will not be able to hold it as long as they previously could. If you come home to a puddle it is related to the med and not a relapse in toileting. |
Oh yeah, we're no strangers to Barney on prednisone. He has always gotten the increased thirst/urination, but this counter surfing is a new thing. |
