Busted!

So last night at class I had both girls with me. Sybil's class is first - we practiced Snooker (a whole story in itself, lord that game has more rules than...never mind)

Macy's class is not as advanced so we skipped the snooker part and were running this sequence that had a rather tricky start. Two offset jumps to a hard weavepole entry. One of our instructors, my favorite for Macy (and not just because she brings Mudslides to class after she's finished a big title    ) got the idea that she would sit in a chair over by the wall but near the weaves which inevitably seems to be where barsetters end up sitting at trials. I should know, Sybil has visited more than her fair share of them

So as I set Mace up, knowing she's no less socially inclined than her sister, I warn Sue that she may end up with an OES in her lap. But not Macy, no, she nails the weave entry, never glances at Sue (that would be the GOOD sister, Dawn  ). Then I beg the other instructor to let me run Sybil just through the opening sequence. She looks at me a little funny but I explain that this set-up exactly is our bugaboo, too valuable an opportunity to miss. Sue gets into it and asks if she can yell loudly. The louder the better I assure her.

Sure enough, Sybil takes the first two jumps, I peel off for the weave entry, she heads for Sue's lap    Sue does a convincing and dramatic rendition of a psycho woman :twitch:   . Sybil stops a few feet short, looks at her and then decides she has better things to do, like say come with me

We ran it again and she never gave Sue a second glance. We shall see how that translates in trials .

The bitch has an all together too high opinon of herself and people's willingness to indulge her. It started at our very first trial when one of the workers actually petted her and coo'd to her, thus rewarding her for the behavior. Must have been someone who has never run a social butterfly.

I may have to pay Sue to work some of the Open classes going forward

Sue is an angel! You can tell her I said so.

Everyone coo's at Tiggy  It doesnt matter how bad she is. 8O

We were at the vet today, as Tiggy has a paranoid mother (ME) was worried about increased frequency of urination (antibiotics) and Tiggy spent her time up on her back legs with her big hairy paws up on the reception desk, just chattin' with the nurses. She was deaf to me telling her to get down, way too busy batting her eyelashes at the nurses. Remind me not to fix her topknot for future visits.

Not one of the nurses told her to get down, NOT ONE!!! They all thought it hysterical when I offered to let Tiggy sign the credit card slip. Tiggy just looked at the pen to assess its edibility and then continued batting her eyelashes at the nurses. She knows they have treats back there.

Should have taken the camera
sounds like its your turn for the mudslides
PS what's a mudslide? I'm guessing they're good and wondering if alcohol is involved.

Yes, and yes.

Not sure exactly what is in them except icecream, vodka, Bailey's Irish Cream maybe and some chocolate? Doesn't matter. All I know is my handling inevitably improves after one or two of them leading me to conclude that:

1) it's very important we all encourage Sue to finish big titles
2) there should be a bar at every agility trial.

Mim, even a OES local breeder, who should know better and has herding lessons the same time as me, let Mace crawl up the front side of her this past Tuesday  Good news is herding instructor won't put up with this shenanigans. Not that the girls won't give it their best shot anyway

Being cute can be a dangerous thing.

Now, with Mace it's so reinforcing I've taught her to jump up on me WHEN INVITED for agility. Sybil doesn't think it's all that reinforcing. She's just damn nosy!

Kristine
Oh, I would have loved to see it.

Poor Sybil - she now thinks there are humans with multiple personalities out there....

Chewie is social, but I swear he never has even noticed there are humans in chairs sitting out on the course...... :cow:

Sybil notices everything.

She has the nicest heeling of any dog I've had so far - well, Mace's will probably ultimately be nicer just because she has such nice structure. But it's soooo hard for her to give anything her full attention, almost mentally painful. There were days when heeling with her was like something out of the exorcist 8O

She's come a long way. But nosy, oh my god!!!

Kristine
the fact that she notices everything makes her a good sheepdog. The fact that she can't concentrate on the task at hand makes her interesting

I still have to check the ring crew to make sure there are no men when we trial. SInce Dan plays so much rougher with Marely than I do (and she loves it!) she always thinks the male ring crew will do the same
Mmmmm I think I need the recipe for mudslides. They'll come in handy next week when Tig and I start at agility. Something to soothe my nerves before and then soothe the embarrassment after Madame Stickybeak does her thing and harasses all and sundry.

I taught Tiggy to jump up on me on command but it just seemed to encourage her so I stopped some months ago and went back to repeating 'down' constantly. It is starting to sink in but when she's excited she goes deaf.
Well, it's confirmed then, Mim: you're working with a bonafide OES. No DNA testing needed :sidestep:

I'll try to get you a good mudslide recipe.

No. I ran one of those. Sybil's dam, in fact (so much for genetics) The difference is they KNOW their job and do not get sidetracked flirting or working crowds  <vbg>

Ah well, I guess I wont be able to pass her off at agility as a grey and white golden either.

Well...that may be an easier sell. How does she feel about tennis balls? ;-)
