I seem to recall seeing similar posts here. If anyone is interested in contacting Dr. Albrecht, it might help her compile more evidence to get to the truth of the matter. Just a thought. (BTW -- Gus is not chipped.) |

All my dogs are chipped, all my puppies leave the house chipped, all the registered dogs in the country must be chipped before they receive a pedigree, all of the dogs being born now (breed or mongrel) have to be chipped, dogs must be chipped to move around Europe, etc. There are MILLIONS of dogs chipped in Europe and I haven't seen any reports of cancer linked to chipping... |

We are the same here too and never heard of any report linking Microchipping to cancer. |
I have heard of some adverse reactions to microchipping although more fatal shock type reactions in small breed dogs. My vet also told me that some dogs get a form of bone cancer years after having metal screws inserted during bone surgery but that it is extremely rare. Its possible that an inflammatory response to a foreign body (microchip) could lead to a tumour forming but as the article said unless they mandate reporting we wont know how common or not it is. At this stage I'm guessing its much more common for dogs to get lost or stolen. |
I've heard about cancer at the site of a chip for years, no one had done any official studies yet last time I looked into it and most of the time in a shelter dog for example it would never be reported. I still do tattoos. |
