more inside training options
 I couldn't quite do any heeling in there. I started looking at my basement. Big, open area, but crappy flooring (cement). I had several old 6 x 8 area rugs, not very fancy but fairly "stiff", put them down and gave myself some room to doodle. I should probably get some double sided tape so I can make it them "stick" better so I can do a little jumping. Not high, but enough to practice the retrieve over the high at lower heights at least.Anyway, I was sorting through stuff to make space and so on I realized I had an old bed stand with a mirror. Good enough to let me see if a dog was in position. I cleaned that up and put it on what end. Che ran up to it, saw his reflection and started to bark Even with the lighter days and nice weather it will still be wet and mucky outside for a while. It's snowing again today in fact. What I wouldn't give for a basement that was just that. Mine is used up 99% in living space. Well, 50% human living space & 49% canine living space  But that would mean another floor because I'd still need my "walk-out to the dog run" kennel.  I guess I shouldn't complain. Hubby lost his workroom to the kennel a few years ago. But he gained a new additional garage outside strictly for that so not too bad except it's COLD in the winter! |
| My basement can barely be called a basement. Cellar would be the correct word... Old farmhouse. Stacked stone foundation. Dirt floor. Old cistern takes up one half of it. Result - just a trap door from outside to change the filter in the furnace every month or so.... Scary tornado shelter at best!!!  But - I just ordered a set of new weaves and I really hope to be able to use my outdoor space by the time they come next week!! Kristine - we actually dodged the snow (not the cold, clouds and wind though) and have a brisk sunny day today. Hardly helpful as I work all weekend. |
