Our family isn't a noodle family (we probably have it 1-2 a year), so I make this over brown rice. 2-3 large thawed chicken breasts CUBED (mine were fairly BIG chunks so if it broke off, it would be no biggie and so it wouldn't cook super fast) 1/8C margarine (I used 1T) .7 oz pkg dry Italian-style salad dressing mix 1 pkg light cream cheese 1 can condensed cream of chicken soup 1/4-1/2C white wine NOTE: I use half of the package of dressing mix THEN when the chicken is done, I taste it... and usually add another 1/4th of it. I think the whole package equals salty, but that's personal preference. Pic BEFORE adding the cream cheese: Cube chicken then put butter, dressing mix, wine, and soup in crock pot for 4-6hrs. Then add cream cheese until it melts (30 min). YUMMY!!! NOTE2: You can obviously use frozen breasts, but it would make it harder to cube, but you make like shredded chicken sauce over your pasta. I do not AT ALL. So after you do put breasts in the pot, I'd advice to not touch it at all to avoid it shredding. Also when you add the cc, wait until it softens and heats up before gently stirring. Notes3: There are easy substitutes you can do as well like 4 oz. cream cheese and 1/2C sour cream (how I do my beef Stroganoff). ...or adding a LITTLE milk to thin out if too thick from the block of cc. Quite honestly, I like the whole 8oz in this chicken recipe. Tastes delish!! |

I've never thought of Stroganoff made with cc Will put this on the todo list for after Easter! Have time to think; chicken or beef........hmmm |
I'm a chicken person (overall), so I prefer the chicken version but the boys definitely prefer the red meat. My moo moo boy is starting to lose his title. He's given up all chicken lately ...and my older picky eater is starting to eat everything. I guess that's a good thing. One boy is losing weight while the other is actually eating for a change. |
Children will vary greatly in eating. Sometimes they are super picky for a long, long time and flip/flop, they eat everything. Don't stress, be flexible. Worst case was husband's nephew who was super picky for the first 10 years, then gradually changed. When he got to West Point he learned to eat EVERYTHING or starve. Today he loves food/loves to cook. |
cc? |
I may try this later this week; thanks! |
