Good bye Zac

My friend and obedience instructor Julie, had to say Goodbye to her beloved labrador Zac today.
Zac was diagnosed with Mast Cell tumor and they have fought so hard but today she and Pete had to do the right thing for Zaccy and let him go to the bridge to chase balls again.

We are all devastated.

He was a beautiful boy and the best assistant any dog trainer could ever ask for.

I will never forget Zac and his way with dogs and puppies. He led by example, he would have none of the snapping and snarling or silliness. He just walked on through, Mr Calm, and his mere presence settled every other dog down. Zac had a bit of rocky start to life but once he found Julie it was as if he'd always been a champion obedience dog.

His eyes never left his Julie for long, he always knew where she was, and no mere dog pen kept him from escaping the club house to join her. It wasnt his fault if a few other dogs escaped with him and surely they knew they should all make a bee line for Julie and put themselves in a long drop stay behind her till she was ready to throw his tennis ball.

Good bye Zac, I hope they have enough tennis balls for you at the bridge. We miss you heaps already.

Sounds like he was a special boy :ghug: :ghug:
I'm sorry for Julie's loss. Only recently have I begun to appreciate Labs--they are special dogs.
RIP Zack. :-(
I am so sorry to hear of the passing os sweet Zak. It sounds like he made quite and impact on many. He will be deeply missed.

Tears,
Zac sounds lovely, please pass on our condolences to your friend. RIP Zac xx
Please let Julie know that I am so sorry to her about her Zac. I took over ownership of my son's lab, Maggie, when he changed jobs that required him to travel weekly. I know how wonderful and smart they are.
:ghug: :ghug: to Julie from me and Maggie.
Special thoughts and prayers for Julie and Zac. :ghug:
Thanks for standing by your friend. Let her know there's a sheepdog community that is grieving with her.
Mim send my heartfelt condolences to Julie on the loss of her special man in Zac, never easy to let them go and Julie did remarkable with Zac in making his last time happy and fun with the diagnosis of the Mast Cell tumour, she and Zac were remarkable in strength and also with julie the courage to know it was time to let him go.

As hard as it is I hope Julie will heal and look to the future, her special lab man is gone now and as time heals I hope she ends up with another lab baby to love, guide (In obedience) and end up just like Zac did in every special way, a special baby will be waiting for her when she is ready to take that step..

RIP special man, know you had a wonderfull life with Julie and gave a lot too, to all the doggies in your obedience classes. A mentor of 4 paws gone but I am sure never forgotton he has impacted to all that knew him and all the doggies that have been influenced by him.
I am so sorry to hear of Zac's passing. Mim, you certainly captured his personality w/your tribute. I can tell how truly special Zac was. Many sheepies are welcoming him at the bridge. :ghug:
I have a soft spot in my heart for the labs. Nothing loves like a lab. My yellow girl savannah (gone to the bridge) was a wonderful mentor too. I know Zak will be missed.
I am so sorry for your and your friends loss. He sounds so special. Good to know that he was thought of that way. I am sure Lola was right there waiting. 'Wanna play, huh, wanna play?!'
Sounds like he was a wonderful guy. Sorry for the loss to all
Julie asked me to post this message for her.

Thank you all so very much for all you special love and thoughts for the passing of my wonderful Zak. He was so very special and came to me after difficult circumstances. As a Dog Trainer, I love all dogs that come to me. I see my role as so very important to help them communicate with their human owners. Zak was so very special and helped me communicate to them when I couldn’t as yet. (As only dogs can do)

I feel as if I’ve lost my right hand man and will miss him dreadfully for a very long time. He made me the trainer I am today and I’ll be forever thankful for him being brought into my life...things happen for a reason and this was definitely the case with Zak and I. LOVE all your dogs every day, even when they’re silly and driving you crazy, because when they go, the pain is unbearable. RIP my darling boy, Zak and thank you SO much from the bottom of my heart for all the things YOU taught me.....
