Merlin on the sick list!
 Photo from last August.Merlin appears to have had a mild stroke (CVA) last weekend. I visited him with Willoughby on Saturday. He's up, walking slowly and his appetite is finicky. I groomed him and massaged all his muscles. He seemed glad to see me but I found him withdrawn. He's being very well cared for and he has a new friend to cheer him up: a miniature gelding who is resting a sore leg. Lorna, the barn owner is keeping me posted. He will be 28 in June. I hope he can enjoy one more summer.  |

| Bob the Wonder Pony sends his prayers and thoughts to cousin Merlin for a speedy recovery. Heck, 28 isn't very old. We have a few horses in their 30s at our barn. I bet Merlin will come through this--it's amazing what they can deal with. I'm sure his appetite will come back, especially now that spring is near. It's important for him to know that he is loved--sounds like he's in a good place. |

| We have no way of knowing what damage the stroke may have done, but depression is a common side effect. Hope you can visit him again this weekend. Horses do live into their 30's so hopefully Merlin will come out of this and enjoy a few more summers. Know what you mean about a pony. Every time I see a minature burro, mule or horse...... |

Marianne!!! Great to hear from you!  I'm sure Merlin would remember you: he's been improving : eating well and out and about with his friends.  I will pass on your combined good wishes. I was planning to see him this weeked but I've been felled by a virus and am on the sick list.  Still, the good weather is coming and we'll all feel better for it!  I sure miss the climate on the Lower Mainland though. I see the cherry trees are in bloom. Nothing like that here though! At least we have sun today and it's warm.  Thanks to evryone who responded. I will post a photo of Merlin when I finally see him! |
