I brought Frankie home yesterday from the vet after being sedated for his ears. He was still really out of it. I tried to get him out of the car and he wouldn't budge. So I tried to pick him up. He Growled at me. So I backed off. Called my husband and he got him out of the car. No Problem Between that growl and growling at me about his ears last week. Is he starting to have behavior issues or is it just because he has been through alot. He acted out at the accupuncturist today, bucking and kicking like mule. Once we made him mind and come over to us he was fine. Should I be concerned? Lisa and Frankie |

He's had a rough time lately. Give him some time. Plus if he's still hurting at all he's going to growl to let you know . It's the only means of communication he has. Just be gentle but firm with him. Don't let him think he's in charge necessarilly but cut him some slack. |
He may have still been groggy too. When Lola was spayed, she actually snapped at the vet tech when coming out of anesthesia. They said it was because she was not fully awake. |

I think I snapped at the nurse when I was coming to from getting my gall bladder out years ago..... Lisa...I agree!! Poor Frankie has been through alot lately. And he was groggy so if it happened to me, I wouldn't worry just yet. Please give him a sheepie hug from Heart!!! |
I wouldn't worry. A growl is a warning shot. It's a way of saying, "Ow, that hurts" when a dog is unable to do anything else. Remember, Frankie was in the car, he couldn't wiggle away, and was possibly still somewhat out of it/groggy too. Having said that, in your shoes I'd be worrying too. Not because there's an actual reason to worry, but simply because that's always been my hobby. Give Frankie a gentle virtual hug from all of us here in Winnipeg. |
