Calling all experts with geriatric puppies.....

As you all know, Pearl is 14 and still is active in the PAWS program and also subs at therapy visits.

Her coat is much easier to maintain than Heart's so it is nice to have an option on WHO to take for visit.

If I am really tired, I take the 'good' one as opposed to the
'wild' one. I take the easily groomed dog as opposed to the 'dust bunny'...

She is doing very well with the glucosomine...still jumping into the car, and onto the couch..No signs of the Cushings worsening.... :phew: I have only ONE problem with Pearl and that is her breath...She has 'old dog' smell.

She got her teeth cleaned about 4 months ago. I wash her muzzle before a visit. I brush her teeth before a visit, and STILL she has 'old dog smell'... IS there anything out there that can help?? I have tried doggy breath mints, but they don't last long.

I need HELP...please~~~

I don't have any good suggestions. Simon (11 next month) is in RIGHT NOW getting a dental....
Before visits I wipe out hs mouth with oral wipes - one big area is to clear out the flews really well. They trap food and bacteria. Are you doing that? I also use an OTC ear wash on the day of the visit to freshen that area up as well.

We have a big Pet Expo in Mpls this weekend, so I am cleaning up Chewie for the OES booth on Saturday, and then Simon and foster Harley for the Basset rescue booth on Sunday. Good thing I have tomorrow off!

Oral wipes are a good suggestion, never thought of that. and the clearing out the flews as well, maybe not doing that as well as I should. The ear wash is also a great idea even though her ears are odorless at this point.

Thanks dawn....I needed some great suggestions and you always come through!!!

Have a great time at the Pet Expo!!! And don't forget to take lots of pics!!! :D :D :D
Have you tried the mouthwashes that you put in their daily water? Usually the more expensive, the more effective. Well I had luck with Oral Hygiene Rinse since my maltese had terrible breath, but my SIL had to use something that was a $50 bottle (a tiny tsp at a time), and it worked for her 12 yo dog.
Bit of fresh parsley diced up on her dinner.

Charcoal tablets or you can get it in dog bikkies helps too.
I just bought Oxyfresh liquid. I looked online and there wasn't alot to choose from, but this has 100% money back guarentee, so I thought I'd try it.

Thanks for all your great suggestions, and I will try each and everyone of them!!! I will be posting since it takes about a week to see any results.

Thanks again!!!!!
