UVA Students with AWESOME OES Need Your Help
Our names are Robbie Oberholzer and Bailey Ocker, and we are fourth year students at the University of Virginia and proud owners of an 8 month-old Old English Sheepdog named Oakley. We are writing to ask for your assistance in an upcoming photography competition hosted by Bissell Vacuums in order to promote the breed as well as to win $10,000 that will go to an animal rescue organization located near our hometown of Greencastle, PA, called Mastiffs to Mutts. Mastiffs to Mutts is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming breeds of all types in the surrounding area and could really use the donation to keep providing this awesome service to pets and animal lovers in the surrounding area. In addition to the donation that we will be able to provide, winning the contest will also place our Old English's picture on the Bissell Vacuum boxes for a year. Unfortunately, each registered user can only vote one time per week which is why we need this email to reach a lot of people! The voting period that we are attempting to win runs from Friday, February 26 to Thursday, March 4. We would greatly appreciate it if you could please forward this email to any interested organizations or people who would be willing to spare a few minutes to help promote the breed and win a great rescue organization money to help them continue their services to canines and humans alike. | I think this is probably a more amenable community than the entire OESCA list, but I give you credit for finding opportunities. It was great to read that Oakley likes doing hurdles. There are many OES on this forum that do agility and some really fun pictures and stories about that. You should stick around and connect. We'd love to hear more about your beautiful boy and see more pictures too. One additional thought you've probably thought of is to get the mailing list for the rescue organization to which you will be contributing the prize $$. |
| We will definitely stick around. This is our first OES and it is such a great experience! Bailey and I, along with the rescue organization have put our heads together and have sent out countless emails. We will need a lot of votes to make it into the final round, but when there is a will there is a way! I did receive a few email back from OESCA chairs who were displeased that we didn't choose an OESCA rescue organization to donate the money to. Unfortunately we can't donate to everybody, but we feel confident that the rescue organization that we have chosen is very deserving as well. Aside from the donation, we are hoping that we can at least promote the breed a little bit and get more people interested in these awesome companions! |

| Thanks for the support everybody and WAHOOWA crazylaplap!! During the fall we would spray his hair with blue and orange halloween hairspray and show him off at the corner on gamedays.
