Here's what I can help you with. In June/July ...there will be a HUGE dog show at Reliant in Houston. They will be doing an OES grooming seminar. Great opportunity to learn and talk directly with the people who know them best!! I believe this is the link. http://www.reliantdogshows.com/ |
Thank you for that info! I hope to make it there!!! |
Are you looking for an OES Groomer or are you looking to learn the proper way to groom an OES? |
A groomer. Thank you. |
oh ok, can't help you then. I groom my own OES. OES groomer are hard to find! Good luck!! |
Well I'm in TX and looking to "learn" Maddiesmom. I think I do okay myself, but it's my own technique. I have no idea what's right though. Maybe next time we're in Dallas visiting my SIL ...I could convince you to help me ...or if you are down in Houston. Will you be showing at Reliant? |
Joahaeyo, Yes I will be in Houston for the show. I will be showing Maddie. I have no problem teaching you. If you come to Dallas let me know otherwise I will see you in Houston! Take care!! Teri |
Thank you anyway. I have gotten pretty good on my own, but just don't have the time it takes to really put into her. I am hoping to go to Houston in July to learn a bit from someone there. So Texas OES owners, are y'all going to clip your dogs down for the summer? We didn't last year, but then Tink was only a puppy. I've already had people comment on the heat being hard on her. She stays indoors so I am not planning to clip her short, not unless the mats get out of control that is! Oh, just saw that Maddiesmom will be showing in Houston-we will definitely come root for you!! You are the first OES person I've come across in this area! Everyone around us looks at our sheepie as an oddity, so it's nice to know there are others not too far away! |
No, I never clip mine in the summer (at least for the reason of the heat) and they do fine. Most people will think you have a dalmation anyway, so I never listen to them. People I run into know NOTHING about dogs (all breeds), so why would I? |
Hee hee, yeah I totally agree Joahaeyo! Well we haven't gotten the dalmation remark yet, but have gotten an 'overgrown shitzu' comment! I do want to keep her fur long though! Love your avatar (is that what its called) picture of the sheepies and kids! I have a 5 year old who thinks sheepies are the best-until one of her dolls are swiped by 'the tink the tank', then they aren't best buddies anymore-at least for a few minutes anyway. |
We are in San Antonio. My poor baby has never had a full coat My thought was I wanted her used to the clippers while she was young and I could still control her.Now that it doesn't bother her at all and I've learned from the forum the proper brushes I need (thank you) plan on letting her grow out. Since we usually travel for a month at a time, with the furkids going to camp. She may get cut down at least once a year. There no one around here that knows what they are doing as far as clipping OES.Love to have someone tell me differently. |
