does anyone have any recent experience of these items? cappi really doesnt like being apart from me, even between rooms, i was hoping something soothing like this diffuser may help calm him when he is in his crate. |

Geez, I just thought that's how OES were! Mine follow me everywhere! Perish the thought that I would close the door when I go to the bathroom! I have dogs who can't understand why they can't come in too. |
i tryed it with duffy it did not work he hated being left alone so now his diffuser is dreamer |
forget it, they are always within ten feet, if any further they're playing like crazy or watching your every move-that's why we love'em! |
Is he used to a crate? If he isn't, he will get upset when put in it. You can try putting him in the crate, closing the door and leaving for a short time( like 2 minutes) coming back and rewarding him with a treat...Little by little he will love his crate. You might want to put a stuffed Kong toy in there with him. He will be occupied eating the Kong and then probably be tired when he's done. You don't say how old he is...or how long you leave him in the crate... |
sorry i didnt express myself very well, its not the fact he follows me, i do enjoy that, its more the fact that i cant leave him, crated, he is left between 1 - 2 hours and apparently barks the whole time. he is 12wks. i know he will, hopefully, calm down. i was looking at the dap in an effort to soothe him. he has a kong, and other toys and now a bone when i leave him. i have been told that i have made him too dependant on me, and this is why he gets so upset. i thought i was doing the right thing, bonding. i suppose it depends on who i ask. any way, seems the general opinion is that the dap is no good. |
I never used the product. I think its something you plug in the wall and it sends off a soothing scent or something? Listen, its worth a try! Bach's Rescue formula is another thing you can try, as well as some soothing low volume music or tv as background noise. I leave my tv on the food channel so the dogs can hear voices and feel like their not alone. I might suggest to stay away from channels that have dogs barking, etc and music that is hard rock with loud noises. I don't think its your fault that he is barking when you're gone. He;s just a baby. To him one or two hours ia a lifetime. Maybe you can "practice"...leave for two minutes and come back...leave for five minutes and come back...leave for 15 minutes and come back...so he understands you will ALWAYS come back. Hang in there. He has alot of growing up to do and it will go by fast. |
Asterisk would cry and cry and cry when she first was crated. I would put her in the crate at night and she would just cry for ages. It took her awhile to grow out of it, I think she was close to 4 months before she would just accept her crate. She didn't always cry, but when she did, it broke your heart! |
