now, i discover its not just when i leave, i took him to work on saturday and all the customers made a fuss of him, but when they left he barked for them too!!! i had an appointment today and was gone for a couple of hours, he was in his crate with a new bone but still managed to bark the whole time. what can i do? and why does he do it with strangers? |

Well let me know when you find out! We have a similar issue. I don't read it as anxiety at all - in our case it is equivalent to a temper tantrum. She wants things how she wants them and if you don't do it, she is going to provide you with "the incentive" to do things how she thinks they should be done. My answer for this sort of behavior is an immediate 15 minutes of leash training: heel, sit, stand, stack and down. I realize she is exhibiting intuitive sheepdog behavior, however as I am not a sheep, it isn't going to work. And I have a citronella bark collar that may aid in further training! |
