You can buy a little device that emits a high pitched sound that only dogs can hear when you press the button. You are supposed to be able to train your dog not to bark by pushing the "bad doggie" button immediatley when he's barking, then the "good doggie" button when he stops. The device is called Easy Trainer, got mine at Walmart. By the way, I've never had to use it on my OES, she rarely barks. I bought it for a basset-beagle mix.

That sounds like a great item for barking, will it hurt the dog in any way? I am forunate enough not to have problems with barking, but would love to suggest this to some of our neighbors. Thanks for the advice, Stormi and co. |
To be honest, I don't know how much this may or may not hurt the dog. The response I got from Fred was he would stop, look at me, but never howled or acted like he was in pain. Don't think I would have continued to use it if he did. I know for sure he didn't like it. I suggest finding the manufacturer for more details on how it works. I've had mine so long, I no longer have the paperwork. In fact, the device is now collecting dust!

Thank you, Brenda! We have one neighbor that thinks their dogs should stay outside and bark all day and all night. I don't think they have anything to do with their dogs. THey had just one dog, and then one day there were 3 in their backyard. It seems they have gotten together to make a trio of barking.
My husband works nights and I would love to suggest something so that he can sleep better. Thanks again, Stormi |
How about having an anonymous call to the police...they can be fined for nusicence barking. We HAD to do that in our old neighbourhood, finally it stopped and I think I saw them start walking the dog.
Nothing worse than late night or early barking. |
Ooooppps
Guess I shoulda looked at the date. So Stormi is the problem fixed? |
