Scrambled Eggs as a diarrhea treatment?!?

Our boy Frankie is suffering from the OES curse of loose (I believe someone called it soft serve) for a couple of weeks. He started out with what trned out to be a bacterial infection in the gastric system. We gave him his anti biotics, bland diet (rice with chicken) and it got better. Started mixing in his Innova a little at a time and it got soft again. Went back to bland and it seemed to stay loose not getting firm but once or twice and then worse, then better...my wife has started mixing in scrambled eggs which may or may not be helping (we are also now mixing small amount of the herring and swt pot. California Natural in the belief that this may help). I know this sounds like a great big hodge podge but it has been slowly and deliberately measured out (1/8 of a cup of kibble, then increase, then back off). Our boy is 22 months and not prone to this. He looks great and feels fine and yes all the checks from fecal, to blood work, to heart were done (got the bills to prove it  ). I know this is a common post subject but need the help. He's in full coat, it has rained a lot here and at ten oclock at night...and he is sooo tired of people messing around his rear end. Can the eggs be an issue in this? Should we go the rice and kibble and let it work itself out? :?:

Egg allergy is rather common. I wouldn't be using that as a protein source. Go back to chicken.....if it worked. Maybe ground beef....I boil it with rice when things get messy here.

Carefully read the Innova label, may be a clue there..who knows, maybe egg product.

Friend with a tender tummy dog has reported great success with homemade kefir. She gets the starter at a health food store, makes up a gallon at a time and can reuse the "mother" twice before it needs to be replaced. Kefir is a different bacterial strain than yogurt and produces a runnier product her tender tummy bitch adores!

Instructions on kefir making are on the web.
I'd lay off the egg for awhile to normal and go back to chicken and rice and a little bit of his dry till you see constant formed stools.

Also being on anti-biotics does kill off all the bacteria in the system the good flora as well. Might be adviseable now his anti-biotic treatment is over to for a little while put him on a probiotic powder to help replace the good flora in his gut. Been using the probiotic powder myself at the moment after a diarreah episode with my dogs and after medication. Had trouble on and off with stools going soft, slushy then firm again so within 48 hours of using it firmys and no mess on the back coat when they go.

Another thing to watch out for is sometimes with these buggy things a second course of medication is needed to nip it in the bud as they say so just keep the diet bland, slowly over time increase the amount of dry as they are still inflammed inside and hopefully in another week or so your all back to normal. If it continues to be loose or seems to be going backwards then might be adviseable to ask the vet for a second course of medication to make sure it's completely gone.

Nothing worse then full hairy butts and runny ones, I sympathise with you at the moment, especially with wet weather and getting them cleaned up to bring back inside. Summer here so was not as bad for me.
I agree with the two others but, thought you might also
want to add endosorb if your vet carries it...
I think most of them do around here.
Proviable also comes in a paste which seems to work
even faster than capsule probiotics (IMHO)

Georgie wants to know if her man needs her to make him
some chicken soup??
She also sends a

Hope it clears up soon!
How is Frankie doing??
He is doing a little better this morning, like I said until it's happening you don't know there is a problem. And as usual he was rarin' to go this morning when my wife Maura was rounding him for work (he goes with her everyday for the most part). I think we're going to drop the eggs out and see what happens. Tell Georgie that Frankie wants to play SOON as he is anxious to show her his coat all grown out! :D
At least Mom and Dad are the only ones feeling the pain!

Just heard from Jay (Tucker's Dad)---they want a play date too!
They have a dog park at their new development in Leland!
We all need to get together on dates!

(sorry off topic....I never do that   )
I don't think I would add ANYTHING to his regular meals until the stool firms up a bit. I think often times we keep adding one thing after another with the hope of something working and it only gets worst.

I found when we had this as an ongoing problem, it took a while to get stools back to normal after the antibiotics ended. We also use Tylan powder, I put in capsuls as prescribed by the specialist.

His butt may in fact be quite sore if the stool's been loose. If it gets caught in the coat and you are wiping 8O be gentle
Been a couple of days and we are having some success with limited pumpkin, no eggs, more of his new food and plain rice...will keep you all posted
