Just the update I never wanted to post but knew one day I would. Last month, I discovererd a tumor on Belle. You can read my post above on her background. Golden Retrievers notoriously, get cancer at some point in their life. If you look it up, the numbers are staggering. Belle has no had an immune system for the past 6 years with the drug called Cellcept. Well, the Cellcept doesn't cause it, it weakens her system to make her vulnerable. She was diagnosed at the Raliegh Vet School a few weeks back. Its not operable or treatable. She has about 5-6 months, pending degradation of her health. I will not let her suffer, you just don't do that to a close friend you care about. Some of you know what I mean. I don't keep a dog, I have a family member who I care a great deal about. My hope for all of you that run into this with Myasthenia Gravis...there is hope, 6 years of joy and memories. Belle had megaesophagus, MG and allergies, all of her life, it can be done, there is hope. It will be a fight at times, copauge at 2:30 am, cleaning up from "events".....however, as her life went on, there was very little of it over the past 4 years. Belle is nearly 9 now, I would do it again. I think she knew I was there to help her when she needed something...and I was. She just knew and learned what she "had to do". She sat 15 mins after every meal, knew she couldn't drink water unless I was there. Would eat until her food was elevated and came to me when she was gravely. from water in her lungs or food hung up in her. The point, she learned as I did too, what to do. So I leave you hope, fight the fight and love the moments you can. They are always worth it.....take care, Russ Krainiak |
