A couple of funny moments, a dog in the novice class ran right by the jump and leaped into my arms. Was not expecting that to say the least. Then there was a bulldog who completed the course with no mistakes and in no hurry at all. He had the slowest time of the day, but got a standing ovation when he crossed the finish line. Then it was on to the Filmore to see Govt Mule (Warren Haynes) and The Mississippi Allstars (Luther Dickinson). It was a rockin bluesy slide guitar kind of evening, An excellent show to say the least, with 2 of the best guitar players around, (in that genre). Then did school work Sunday, dog park for Obe, grocery shopping, and laundry. Oh I cleaned half the house too. Today work was slow so I got sent home. That means Obe gets to go back to the dog park, then I will finish reading my chapter for class. Hope everyone else had a great weekend and a nice presidents day off. |

Mine was pretty decent. Not all according to plan though.
Saturday was supposed to be our weight pull on Ham Lake - a snow pull. It was a gorgeous day - sunny, mid 20's and no wind. However, our event leader broke down on the way from WI and it got cancelled. The trailer hauling the sled and weight broke apart on the interstate. One side (a snowmobile trailer, for those that know what that is) of the edging and fender flew off and the car behind him hit it. Amazingly, just ruined the car's tire. They resecured the load and limped it home on the backroads. Then I found out yesterday that one of my good friends Pam had a sledding accident Saturday. She lives up near Brainerd MN, outside of Nisswa. She was hooking up her 4 dogs (Samoyeds). She had 2 of the girls hooked up and they broke loose and took off with the sled down the trail. Sadly, they got hit at an intersection by a group of snowmobilers and one of the dogs was killed. Britt was a sweet dog, just 6 years old and a Champion and mom. She co-owns her with another breeder - Britt was actually Norma's dog but spends winters with Pam to sled and race every year. Norma wasn't mad though - it was an unfortunate accident. She made Pam promise she would get back out today and get the dogs on the sled and go for a run. Poor Pam, she is just heartbroken, Norma too. On a better note, we were entered in our 1st agility trial Sunday and had a very good time. We entered 2 classes - standard and jumpers. Results to follow in another post! Then it started snowing and we had a long slow drive home for 95 miles.... It averaged 20-40 MPH for about 50 miles, as it was pure ice. Several accidents. No danger falling asleep on the way home, that's for sure. I have the day off today. Really windy, light snow and intermittant sunshine. It is blindingly white out! |
Well I had a good time on Friday night at the beer fundraiser . While I was there I picked up 11 CD's for screaming cheep ($31). The actual weekend though I didn't do to much. Cleaned up a little in my veggie garden, Lee is working on a nice garden gate for me, went and saw my parents for a bit, slept in both days. Now I am just sad that it's Monday and Lee doesn't have it off. |

What??? No pictures????? I'm glad you had a good time and thanks for doing this for rescue. No urgency to run out and sign Obe for an agility class...? Dawn, I'm so sorry about your friend's dog. So devasting. I had a quiet grooming/training weekend with an agility run-thru yesterday (seems to be a theme this past weekend? ) where the little girls and I got to meet up with Pam & Randy and Simon & Garfunkel again Kristine |
Celebrated my FIL's 86th BD on Saturday eve. All he wanted was a "T-Bone steak". John and I grilled steaks for everyone in our garage, put them in a thermal pack, and toted them to the nursing home. I was skeptical, but they stayed nice and warm, and didn't continue to cook too much more as they "rested". We had invited 6 of his friends, and with John and I, MIL, FIL and another brother, we had a nice crowd. The facility set up a room for us, had flowers and balloons on the tables-- really nice. We also had parsley potatoes, fresh made bread and a salad. Home made lemon and coconut cream pie and a cheese cake put us over the "we are full" meter Max was invited too, and was a little gentleman. He doesn't like "people food" (except cheese) and everyone was suprised that he turned his nose up at steak scraps. He did enjoy a fews cubes of cheddar however....
Sunday John and I went out for Valentines day-- and back home to watch the Olympics. We are watching all three babies this weekend, so my post next Monday will be story filled, I am sure. 4, 2 and 2 months... |
