I have started to complie a list of things NOT to say or do when I am there. This is my list so far. Do NOT screech at the top of my lungs upon seeing the Sheepdog...Oh My GAWWWWWDDDDD a SHEEPIEEEEEEEEEEE Do NOT run my hands down the back of the Sheepdog after it's been fluffed and poofed. Do NOT run up and throw my arms around the floofed and poofed Sheepdog and ask to have my picture taken with it..... Do NOT proclaim... I have a Sheepdog.... Murphy might look like a Sheepie and smell like a Sheepie.. but he's really a Springer in Sheeps clothing. Do NOT ask questions like..... Can they see with all that hair in their eyes? Are they born with no tail, or does it fall off after a bit? Is a Sheepdog a cross between a fluffy dog and a Sheep? That's my list so far.. If anyone has any suggestions on things I should NOT do or say.... I'd love to hear them.. I don't want to appear dense... |

other than the last one I think I have heard all of those Have fun they are much more fun as a sepectator (I think ) |
I've done all the above don'ts! Good luck keeping your hands off that sheepie!
Have fun!! |
Oh my god too funny!!!!!!!!!!! That should be published somewhere in some shape or form!
Thanks for the laughs. I think you covered all of your bases and are good to go. Kristine |
I'm off to a dog show too this Sunday
I'm going to the North East of England OES Champ show I think i might have trouble with your "Do NOT run my hands down the back of the Sheepdog after it's been fluffed and poofed. I'm always forgetting that one |
Publish worthy those donts, might print that one out and stick it to the grooming table at a show.
Have fun Brenda, keep the squeals down till after judging is over for the OES, then go beserk. |
Love it!!!! ...because it's so true.
Have fun! I am jealous and I won't be surprised if you DO some of those don'ts. I mean, how can anyone resist |
I don't show, but I'm still tempted to print up those last 3 rules and hang them on a sign around my dogs' necks! |

Who is the sheepdog entry, do you know? Kristine |

I don't want to be the wet blanket but if there's only one entered there is the chance that they won't come to the show! |
Your on Heather!!!!
It doesn't say in the program who the entry is other than female. So I am going to have to brush up on the Breeder knowledge, just so I MIGHT look 1/2 way intelligent... let me see....there's Ken Bar Bizeboots Lakesong Blueshire Masquerade Briargate Kennels ( ) I will fake an informed conversation on, when to neuter/spay.. or not. what is the right comb/rake.. how to clip their butts and back comb, how to tease the head hair to look like they have no eyes..... Man.. I just might be READY to screech at the top of my lungs.. I HAVE A SHEEPIE.... (well 1/2 sheepie).. but I know people who do... and they got CH's in front of their names....(I know what that means |
I'm betting it will be rule #1 broken SCREECH OMG ITS A SHEEPIE.
Your on heather with the bets. |
Have Fun Bren!!!!!
The first time I saw an OES at a show it was local. I was dying inside not to look or sound like your "average" specatator (even though I was and still am ) It was Jim and Grace with Cruiser sooooo... you know that was hard not to screech! I did good though and they were very kind to the newbie! |
got sheep wrote: Mad Dog wrote: Dudster wrote: I'm off to the Halifax Kennel Club Dog show this weekend, kind a looking forward to it (kind of nerdy I know). There is one Sheepie in the show. Who is the sheepdog entry, do you know? Kristine I don't know, but it's not Isaac...but do know it's a bitch. Oh, probably Molly, Lulu and Mojo's sister. I could check with Allan but why spoil the surprise? The good news is that if it's the people I think it is, you're in luck, Brenda. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone nicer in the breed, and I don't say that to shortchange anyone else. They're just super nice. Here's an icebreaker for you, wait till after judging, hint: follow the dog back to their grooming area, discretely, then give them a few minutes to catch their breath, then walk up to the gentleman who has showing (providing you've ascertained that the bitch entry is indeed Masquerade Mimosa - be bold and ask someone if you can quick peak at the catalog and look up Old English first) and say: Sir, is it true that you once turned down an offer TO GET PAID USD 1,000 to take last year's American National Specialty winner home with you when he was a puppy and you declined? (don't tell Sunny I made that offer, and don't mention the clause that he make him go away and never annoy me again. The dog, not Allan Allan was helping me groom him before I showed him at a national and Luca was being his usual cooperative self...) Blink innocently as he starts looking around frantically for the hidden camera And, Mandy, rumor has it Canada is different. I don't pretend to understand it but it seems that if you have no competition at the breed level you can finish a dog by...winning group? Group placements? Something like that. Hopefully one of our Canuck friends can explain. But bottom line is I expect them to show. This could be hilarous. If it's Molly, give her a kiss from me & Dawn. She's Sybil and Chewie et al's cousin. Their moms are sisters. Dawn, what other information can we feed her that will make Allan think he's losing his mind? <vbg> (His wife, Heather, is equally wonderful btw). Oh, and PRINT OUT YOUR LIST AND SHOW THEM. They both have a wonderful sense of humor and will get a real kick out of it KB |

I will say that NBC just had a nice piece on how Canada and the U.S. are tied throughout history. Definitely earned our Canadian friends some extra points! |
Thanks for the ammo Kristine!!! I hope it is Sybil and Chewie's relative.
If I remember correctly Allan and his wife are from New Glasglow area, not far to travel... If they don't show.. there is always the Berner people I can dazzle with my knowledge... LMAO.. I kill me sometimes. |
Yes its true. Here in Canada you can receive points if you place in the Group. As for how many points you get, it all depends on how many breeds are in the Group ring and obviously, if you place in the top 4.
Unfortunately, it is not me entered. All of my dogs have finished their Championships, and I have nobody to show I will however have a new puppy to bring out in August so until then, I will be assisting a Professional Handler and showing a Shih Tzu |
hmmm, lets see.
I wish I could remember Heather's dog's name that she shows......I know he's a Boston Terrier though! I had forgotten they got a Mojo/Lulu sister.....take pictures, Brenda! and - UKC shows are like that. You can get points by placing in group if you have no breed competition. |

I kill me sometimes. They'll be there and they'll be expecting you. You don't need to dazzle anyone , just stop by. They are indeed showing their class bitch, Molly, but they also have a special, Am/Can CH Masquerade Millionaire, Isaac, who is Chewie, Sybil, Molly et al's uncle and a younger sibling of Sunny's Luca and my Mad. And, yes, Dawn, I think Heather's breed is Bostons, but I can't swear to it. I'd still tease Allan about the Luca story. Kristine |
