So I thought I would ask about his little morning issues those glands that happen just wanted to know how often is too often etc. See how his equipment is working. Well she had no idea what I was talking about. Should this be a red flag shouldn't vets know about this everyone here knew what I was talking about and some people at work. But one good thing she asked around the vet office and called me later when she found out what it was... So he is great everything is health. He now weighs 70lbs and Laika is 78 lbs trying to get some weight off her but seems to stick I give her half the food he gets. Well when I get me dogs sled we will have some big exercise then! |

Great to hear about the eye!!! My terror weighs ~ 62lbs now. Same as his older sis. |
I think his weight is good. Hers is probably 8 lbs too much.
So it took 3 people to give him his drops. It finally worked when we had his bum held it just wouldn't stay still. It isn't because he didn't want the drops in his eyes, I can put them in at home easily. He just couldn't handle not being happy to see the lady vet. I have never seen such a bundle of energy. |
Great news about Langley's eye. |
Yay Langley! |
Great news about the eye. Langley sounds like my almost 2 yr old grandson w/ eye drops! Now Chewie, he would just sit there....
Are you getting a sled? I know you had one before. I love mine. Chewie and I love getting out and it really does keep us both in better shape. Chewie is at 68.5 pounds now and in fabulous shape. All he is is bone, muscle and hair!!! Almost tempting to trim him down so others can see how buff he is.....OK, but not THAT tempting. I love the hair too much |
Yes I am getting a better sled and more harnesses I didn't have one for Langley. I should be getting the sled this week coming up. I am having a staff party and hoping to have them trained somewhat in time and perhaps take kids for a ride |

Sounds like fun. How old is Langley now? (time flies, I still picture him as a little fluffball). Make sure he doesn't pull too much. We only used a cart until Chewie was grown, as the sled is harder to pull. As a comparion of snow vs wheels - in wheeled pulls they need to pull 10 times their weight, but on snow it is 3 times their weight to get the same level title. If it just little kids, then most likely will be ok, but concerned about their liability if you aren't on to drive them? Maybe walking beside them to guide? Anyway, I can't wait to see pictures of them with the new sled. You have all that snow and lake, it's the perfect sport for you! |
thanks for the info. Langley is one now. I was only planning on little kids. Not sure if I will play by ear. There is a little seat in front so I would be in the back guiding and helping push and having control of the brake. |
The sled I am buying seems smaller than the one I see in your picture.

http://halifax.kijiji.ca/c-ViewAdLargeImage?AdId=184434455 I was hoping you would have a picture! It looks fun. It definitely needs something for traction on the runners behind the basket (the basket is the seat part), otherwise you will slip off and twist an ankle. Many use a trimmed to fit section of rubber - snowmobile track or even rubber from knobby mountain bike tires work. One of my friends has a sled with a brake just like that one. Mine is more modern, but it still works with a bungee cord What does it have on the bottom of the runners? Older ones had a strip of metal, newer ones a strip of special plastic - like skis. Mine has plastic, but it needs replacing. It is screwed in place. If the screw were countersunk (should have been) then they are worn too far, as the screw heads are exposed and wearing. Of course the REALLY nice sleds have tracks that the plastic slips into, and it can be changed out according to weather and snow conditions. Not that fancy for me, but the ones we used in ND are that way and they are amazing. |
tells you how much I know I didn't ask what was on the bottom of the sled. Ha my old sled is homemade and has actual skis.
see video for old sled: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBTi84OyQmI |
That actually works (old skis).
One of the groups we weight pull with has skis as runners for the snow pull sled. I thought I had a picture of it - but I only have it before Adam put the skis on it. I think it is the sled we will use tomorrow at the snow pull - I WILL take pictures! This is a picture of the grippies on my runners. They work good and have saved me MANY times already. I think they are snowmobile tread - my sled is homemade too, from northern MN. The people I got it from had it made. They did freight races with their malamutes. |
