Well after 2 months of antibiotics and 3 months of bleach baths, antibiotic lotions and antifungal washes twice a day she has just received the all clear from the vet today. She has calcification around the joint and it is a little unstable, so she will be left with a fat, tender toe but there is no infection so she doesnt need to have surgery to remove the nail. As long as I'm prepared to risk the possibility of the toe getting a little tender she is allowed to go back to obedience and learning the agility equipment. Now if she will just grow an attention span and decide to mind me instead of everyone/thing else we're set. |

Wow, Mim. RELIEF!!!!!!!!
That is good news. Kristine |
Excellent results Mim!!!
Anything you can do or give her to keep the swelling down while she trains? If you figure out how to get her to ignore other dogs let me know - I'll pass the info on to Dan, he could certainly use some help with B - they are doing agility in private lessons to try to raise the value of the activity over the idea of "oops there's a dog I haven't met!" Good luck!! |
Glad to hear this healed up. What a relief! |
Good news. I hope the tender paw doesn't keep Tiggy from Agility. |
My trainers dog had a nail infection that wouldn't go away too. I think she said it had e coli But she also believed it may have gotten infected because she does alot of herding and, well, not to be graphic, but stepping in the sheep poop may have caused it. Just passing that info on for thought if you do herding or your dogs are out on a farm, etc, you might want to get them to wear booties.
Glad she's on the med! |
Good to hear that Tiggy is recovered and can get on with life! |
