We have been training him from day one and he took to his training very well. He sits, paws, lays down, stays etc. However, these days he is starting to rebel a bit more than usual and I was wondering how long this phase goes on for? I have to say I am looking forward to the day when we can let Alfie run through the house without having to worry but at the moment we have to keep him restricted to only a couple of rooms. |

Typical adolesence, maybe a little young for it but they are all different. Just keep at the training - from what I see with an OES its a long term occupation. My Morgan had the best fronts (obedience call to front) you could want last summer. Then he got sick and we just got back to training. Front? "wahtca talking about front?" We are back to basics again |
My Frankie just turned 10 mos he started being disobedient around 7 mos I think it was. Everything he knew has gone out the door. Some days are better than others. Just keep training, I hear it will get better.

Gee, mine is three and still gets that "I don't want to listen attitude". I swear if he could, sometimes he would put up his middle finger at me
Seriously, I think if you start the training early and continue with it, although there might be times they attempt to "test" you, I think using a firm voice and command usually stops the behavior. Sheepdogs do mature a little slower than other dogs...sort of like men (Sorry Ron!) |
by the time we mature, we're shot, so better learn to like us as we r like sheepies. |
My Tonks and Luna didn't settle into their commands until almost a year old.
Good luck with the next 6 months! |
