I've never used Blue Diamond myself; though I see it in petsmart all the time. I think there are a few members that use it with good results. I have just transitioned from Wolf King to Taste of the Wild and am very happy with the results. |

There is a Diamond brand - different from Blue Diamond. Years ago I fed Diamond brand to our dogs with no troubles. It was when I had my GSD Jenny, and it was one of the few brands that agreed w/ her stomach. So, for the approx 10 yrs after I found it working, that's all we used. At the time we had labs and bassets too - and all did fine. The labs needed the higher fat and protein rations during hunting season, but did well on the maintanence foods the rest of the year. But, this was years ago, and the formulations and ingredients (and ingredient sources - other countries) have changed just in the last few years for almost every brand out there. Check your labels and sources, and if you are OK, go ahead and try it. After all the research we can do, actually feeding it to your dog is still the best test if it will really work for your individual dog(s). |
yes it is Diamond..not Blue Diamond. The ingredients look good and I followed the testing posted in a sticky in Medical and Nutrition to grae your dog food.
If I did it right it got a 95%. I got a sample of the food and our pup loved it. It seems reasonably priced at $28 for a 40 pound bag. based on the list of ingredients did I do the scoring correct? Should I post this in General chit chat to get more response? |

I had good results with the Kirklands lamb and Rice from Costco and it is a few dollars cheaper - so some brands are decent for a nice price. I read ingredients and decided to give it a test, and I also had many friends swear by it for their own dogs. So sometimes you can luck out! based on the list of ingredients did I do the scoring correct? I just skimmed through, but it looks like that would be about right. It's been awhile since I did the scoing on a food.... Should I post this in General chit chat to get more response? Maybe more responses, but for the topic, you posted in the right spot. |
I use Diamond...have for the last 20 years. The dogs like it, they have no tummy issues. Pearl is on the Senior version and likes it a lot. I have no complaints about it~~~~ |
I used to feed London Diamond few years ago until there was a recall that their food killed many dogs so I switched over to Nutro, and now Prairie. There's a topic about that somewhere here. |
this was a few years back - im sure their food has changed since.. but stilllll...

Diamond has multiple formulas under its brand Taste of the Wild,Premiun Edge, they also make Cosco's Kirkland brand.
I suggest anyone who wants to check out what they are feeding go to wwwdogfoodanalysis.com. It grades most dry kibblel that is available today. There are easy explaination of why one brand is better than another.Taste of the Wild is 6star using their system Kirkland I think is a 2 or 3. The site explains everything so it is easy to make a decision on what to feed. I always tell people that ask, use the site and feed the cheapest brand in the highest grade you can afford. On Taste of the Wild I'm feeding a 100 pounder 3cups daily, and this is an active dog and he looks great |
