We adopted Sophie when she was 9 months old. She is the most amazing dog I have ever had. We are so in love with her and she loves our boys and is like a sister to them. It is so sweet. About 6 months ago we had to rehome our mini doxie because the older our boys get, the worse she has been around them. She really became a dog that didn't like children. A very good friend (with no kids) took her for a weekend and she fit right in and has been great, but poor Sophie was missing her playmate. We started talking about getting another OES and around Thanksgiving Mollie fell into our laps! It was just meant to be. She was 3 months old when we brought her home. She and Sophie ran out into the yard together immediately and chased one another and played. It was wonderful. It has been a little more challenging having a puppy than starting with one that is almost a year old. But she is learning more and more everyday and is having less accidents. She really tries not to jump on us, but she gets so excited. That is the biggest thing we are working on now. But Sophie did her share of jumping on us until she was around 1 or so. Anyway, we love our OES babies. I would never have any other breed, I think. They fit our family so well. I was so excited to come across this website. I was looking to see when we could expect Mollie's black to turn to grey. Sophie was already grey when we got her. Mollie is getting a little grey on the back of her legs, but that's all right now. Would love to get to know you all and your dogs, too |

Welcome from Mim and Tiggy in Aus.
Very cute photos. Looking forward to hearing more about you all. |
Waving hi! I'm in OKC too! I have two as well...well now anyway, we just lost our oldest and haven't even been able to talk about it here yet.
Nice to meet you, we sure don't have very many OES in our area. Let me know if you're ever up for a play date! |
Welcome! Grays come in at different times on different dogs. Also remember, the shade of gray is probably going to differ. I have some with a very light gray that almost blends right into the whites. I have others that are like a medium gray color & also a blue gray that is a very dark gray (almost black) at the age of almost 10 years. |
Welcome from St. Louis!!!!
I never had a puppy either, and when Heart came is was a very very interesting adventure!!!!! I did laugh alot (as opposed to crying) when I came home to find all my paper towels shredded...but what fun I had!!!! Please keep us posted on her antics!!! I love your pictures, you got a couple of cuties there!!!!! |
Welcome Stacey, Sophie and Mollie, from MN |
FROM ONE MOLLY TO ANOTHER MOLLIE
HAPPY BIRTHDAY and welcome to the OES site. |
Indeed you have found the den of sheepdog lovers! Welcome aboard.
As for gray......yea, it varies with the dog both in time and color. By about 3 months you should be able to find the first grays....but remember there is also the change from baby hair to adult hair from 7 months or so on. Even the adult hair takes awhile to finalize. |
Welcome to you all from Texas. |
Thanks everyone! Here's one for antics.....
Several weeks ago, Mollie woke me up at 4:30 to go out and potty and she didn't want to come back in the house, so I left her out and went back to bed (it was Saturday, so I slept in). When I got up a few hours later to let her in, she had dragged every single thing on our back porch (kids toys, a broom, a rake, their bed...) out into the yard. She was very proud of herself. |
Howdy do! |
Welcome Stacey, Mollie & Sophie from South Carolina. Your girls are GORGEOUS! |
