I've been working on a problem that a few users are having with the forum, and I'm going to be making a change sometime today (weather permitting). If you notice anything wrong, such as you can't login, you get kicked out in an unusual way or you can't stay logged in, if you get error messages about "sessions" such as "Invalid Session" or anything along these lines THAT IS DIFFERENT THAN ANY PROBLEMS YOU'VE BEEN HAVING REGULARLY, please let me know here. Hopefully I won't mess things up so badly that nobody will be able to post even anonymously. Remember to check the appropriate box before posting anonymously. Thanks. |

My session crashed once (disconnected from server), but once I logged back in - No problems at all since then. Thanks, Fearless Leader! |
No probs here. I think I've logged in 3 times today but then I do lose track! Every time has been fine. |
Ron: The only difference I am noticing is that when I close out of OES.org & then come back & open it again (it always automatically logs me in..I have it set that way), when I hit the "view posts since your last visit" it now gives me posts for the last 3 hours or so, even if I checked in & out say 30 minutes ago. |

Yes, the change I made is causing that issue -- it's very complicated for me to figure out what this crazy software is doing, there are about 12 different moving pieces in this "session" and "visits" puzzle. One of the pieces is the length of the session, it was set to 4 hours instead of a customary 15 minutes or even up to an hour because I had problems before with people getting logged out. So when I changed the way the server recognizes you, it now thinks you haven't gone away. I will address that problem (I think/hope) but in the meantime I have adjusted the session length to 30 minutes. If you leave and return after 30 minutes hopefully it will work correctly. If all else fails, you can click on "log out" when you leave and log in when you return -- that SHOULD work (no promises).... OR You can log out when there is a problem, re-login and then click on one of the "Rollback" links under the logo on the front page of the forum and that will very probably work very nicely so that you can find new posts since the "rolled back" time. Sigh. This feature is really poorly designed, and has been patched by phpBB over and over again without success. |
